You might already have found these but, it doesn’t hurt to post them.
Wikipedia has a few resources on GIMP.
SourceForge might have a few plug-ins.

hey guys... I have a question how do you make a font shine in GIMP?
I was thinking of creating a text that looks like shining metal or something like that.. and can you make a reflection/shadow of fonts in GIMP?
something like what dlewis23 have done to his sig.

thanks a lot

i don't know about making font shine in gime because i don't use it, but i do know that making a reflection look right in gimp is super hard, its just one of the things it doesnt do well. You can just use a fade on it and it will be there but it wont look right.

GIMP does take a little bit of getting use to if you are going from CS2...   I still have a hard time with it and I have been using GIMP, on my laptop, for a little over 3 months..   Things are just enough different to confuse me..
