Hi DeepVoice
first things first , Welcome to the forum , and it's great to have a new member from the UK. I guess we do / have suffered from ADSL from BT,

, and the famous "UP TO 8Mb sevice "

the speed you have posted is unexceptable , as long as you are sure your computer is virus and trojan free , and meets the Min.spec for BB,
then it is not your problem , you are paying good money for a sevice you clearly are not getting , your ISP (name ? ) can run tests without the engineer call out , I had frequent discon's and and slow speeds , they got me to run repeated attemps to connect to the BT hub , the Tech engineer at my ISP (Pipex.com ) could read the BT log file, and comfirmed my problem , they raised the issue with BT , and within the week it was solved,
thanks "Just " for the link to the TMN speed test UK , I got 2Mb , I normaly get 1.9 Mb
to TMN USA (sever 1 ) so not that much differance ,
and also thanks to FibreOptic for his explanation on ADSL UK style, I will study that more

, I just did the BT, can you get ADSL test , LOL yes but only 1Mb
and a BT engineer may have to call , (line length +age ) it's suprising the differance a year makes , coz thay told me a year ago I was good for 5Mb

Pics of my Noise margin ect.

WTF is this good ?????
and my test to the BT hub
note DeepVoice , the Min, speeds from BT , just to give you some food for thought ,
The speed test has completed on test server speedtester1.nat.bt.com for user 0208xxxxxxand you have downloaded a 1.7Mb file at a speed of
2393 kilo bits per second (Kbps), your service bandwidth will have been quoted to you in kilo bits per second.
Your IP address isxxxxxxx your browser is reported as being Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 and is running on Windows XP.
BT would regard the speed ranges shown below as normal service:
For 250Kbps End Users speeds between 50 - 250Kbps.
For 500Kbps End Users speeds between 100 - 500Kbps.
For 1000Kbps End Users speeds between 200 - 1000Kbps.
For 2000Kbps End Users speeds between 400 - 2000Kbps.
You may now disconnect from the speed test account (click 'disconnect' in your internet connection window) and if you wish to regain normal access to the internet please re-connect to your ISP using your usual username and password.
Please note that test results may vary according to varying traffic in the network. If you continue to experience slower throughput when logged in to your ISP, this may be due to a slow internet site or high traffic levels beyond the BT Wholesale Network. Please report this situation to your ISP's helpdesk.
