Oh well. Windoze 7 may come out in October.

But with Vista,, And yes it really sucks,,, Is I'm not sure as it is getting updates patches that it is taking more memory. My kids vista machine, it is taking about 600MB ram memory and about 800MB Virtual Memory(machine has 1 gig of memory). So upgrading to 4 gigs of ram in a couple of days.  Don't remember it taking that much a year ago.

Then going to put a fresh install of windoze 7 on it in the later part of this year or early next year, or at least it hasn't crashed for awhile, but it still takes ages to do system maintenance on it.

I have a brand new dual core system, 4 gigs memory blah blah whatever, a damn fast machine, screaming fast for business, I put vista on it, and sonova.. even webpages load slow, it's disgusting, I'm through with windows, it's really obsolete in my world anyway.

I also forgot to note about Vista, is that on the kids machine, is that it has never gotten the SP 1(I only manually update). Now I haven't bothered to dig, but I think the reason was some OEM machines being shipped with an AMD and Intel CPU driver, that caused conflicts. Still getting the regular updates though.  And now SP2 is just about out.

Now with Linux, you can have all sorts of drivers sitting there without the machine going in to reboot death, due to conflicting drivers. Correct me if I'm wrong. Going to put Ubuntu back on this XP box when I get to rebuilding later this year, and thats after this Box gets a new Mother Board, due to glitches in the MoBo hardware or CPU or Buffer Or ADHD. I did have a CD burner/DVD combo drive that lasted about 7 years before it started to act up. But the wife still likes her Windoze, so a new box will have that.

Isn't it a pain when you lend someone a machine with Linux on it, while you fix up their windows box and they lightly gripe for two weeks about it being weird and nothing is where it's supposed to be? Never mind the fact that you finished fixing their machine in one day....  grin

On Tuesday, May 5 (PST), the RC will be available to everyone via our Customer Preview Program. As with the Beta, the Windows 7 RC Customer Preview Program is a broad public program that offers the RC free to anyone who wants to download it. It will be available at least through June 30, 2009, with no limits on the number of downloads or product keys available.

Since I'm too lazy to look... well actually since Microsoft has some crossed data on it's info..

Can you install the windows 7 RC on at least 3 machines With one license? As was with the Beta version.

As far as I know. The keys seem to be the same as they were for Beta1.

Oh look. Internet Explorer version 8 is a High-priority update....
Imagine all those people that woke up in the morning to the Automatic Windows update having installed version 8, and then they went "like what the F*ck".....

But I like Internet Explorer 6 so much, that As long as they keep patching it, YaDa,YaDa,YaDa..... It still works great for manually checking for Windows updates.
Actually was reading a thread somewhere about how someone had setup a Windows box, Without any firewall or anti-virus, and then unplugged the monitor(to use on another machine) and forgot about the machine still being connected to the Internet via the router. That was until he got a notice and call from the ISP about his IP address doing port scans of the ISP's network..... The Windows machine was seriously possessed.  A stock XP box for one week.
