well linux mint is pretty sweet and the install is so simple even to dual boot you hit one button move one slider and its automatic basically.  its very fast and smooth even with all of the add ons and effects set as high as possible. the sizes and layouts of menus and things are going to take some getting used to...but i like it.  and my only concern is that my usb keyboard doesnt recognize until AFTER the grub loader times out and loads linux. so if i cant fix that i'll have to plug up a ps2 keyboard just to select windows if i want to boot from there.

i like it though.

thanks for the input Ryan S , is this your first run of Linux ? , I am interested in how it goes ,
I have just downloaded Linux mint 6 ,  I am thinking of putting it on a spare hard drive , as my drives are on caddies for fast system swaps  , as I need to go back to 98 and M.E. at odd times , to assist some silver surfers  :smile2: in the UK,
well I guess it is obvious I ain't a geek , just a spanner man (Autos ), and for me computers are just a tool ,and not my main hobby , but after 7 years of Xp.pro , and with hindsight missing Vista (maybe wasn't such a bad thing ?), and not thinking of 7 untill at least a years has gone by ,
maybe a Linux system would be worth trying ? ,   I think your screen shot kinda convinced me to give it ago , so any non tech info would be wellcome ,

Linux mint 7 is so much better man

unless your on some low specs and need flubux or that other low end DE go with Linux mint 7

If your going to go with the gnome version which is the main one just go with Mint 7

This is what i use all the time and trust me its bad ass

to change the fonts and size just go to the apperence tab under all programs

from there click on fonts and there is several options

ok all this talk about dual booting linux on here has sparked my interest in linux again, ive played around with ubuntu and another one that i dont recall the name of, and now im hearing all this good stuff about Mint and im thinkin about trying it. my only question tho... if i partition my hard drive to do a dual boot, and i decide that i dont like it, can i undo the partition and go back to just one partition for windows xp or will i lose everything doing that?
