What Adelphia speed package do you guys have and what kinds of speeds are you getting?  I'm trying to figure out if theres any way I can get more speed because I always reach under adelphias typical speed.  I have a 4000/384 connection and most people on here are always getting speeds of like 50 - 100 - 150 times FASTER than thier advertised speeds.  How in hell are you able to do that?  Wow, so anyways, any Southern California people on these boards?  By the way, I'm new here, hello.  * waves *

badlydrawn,

I live on the coast of San Diego County and have the same Adelphia service as you (4000/384).  Here are my stats as of this morning:

Your connection is: 4095 Kbps      (about 4.1 Mbps)
You downloaded at: 500 kB/s
Your TRuSPEED: ^info^ 4382 Kbps :: 535 kB/s (7% overhead factored)
Bottom Line: You are running: 73 times faster than 56K and can download 1 megabyte in 2.05 second(s)
Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 20.23 % faster than the average for host (adelphia.net)

Your connection is: 453 Kbps      (about 0.5 Mbps)
You uploaded at: 55 kB/s
Your TRuSPEED: ^info^ 485 Kbps :: 59 kB/s (7% overhead factored)
Bottom Line: You are running: 8 times faster than 56K and can upload 1 megabyte in 18.62 second(s)
Diagnosis: 90% + Okay : running at 96.59 % of your hosts average (adelphia.net)

Currently, the above stats are typical of my service, but occasionally the speeds dip a little to a lot.  However, when I frist signed on with Adelphia back in late March of this year, my downloading speeds were horrible (around 700 Kbps).  After rebuilding my hard drive (which got me downloading speeds between 1500 and about 2000 Kbps), arguing with Adelphia, and finally treatening to complain to the FCC, I finally got downloading speeds in the high 3000s.  Recently, my typical speeds have increased a bit to be more around 4000 Kbps.

By the way, I signed up with Adelphia via a promotion of $26.95 per month until the end of the year.  Recently, Adelphia offered me a 25% discount off the full price for the first three months of 2006, which I jumped on.

I'm about 50 miles east of L.A.  I have the premier package, and consistently get 6200/860.  The 50% faster thing is due to the fact that Adelphia raised speeds earlier this year.  Old packages were: standard 3000/256  premier 4000/512 (I think).  Now it's standard 4000/384 premier 6000/768.  Also, most adelphia users get above caps though; like myself.  Before I changed to premier (after inital speed upgrade by Adelphia), I was getting 4200/430.

That where I grew up also. Went to Monroe Elem., De Mille Jr High, and Lakewood High. I raised my kids there until L.B School system tried to bus them to Compton around 1978.

I'm in So Cal - Irvine (UCI, go anteaters!) and Temecula.

We just got Adelphia Extreme in Temecula (16Mbps) and Comcast bumped us up to 9Mbps in Irvine. I'm loving it...  Very Happy
