In late March of 2005, I signed on with Adelphia via a promotion that allowed me to pay only $26.95 per month for their Preferred service (4000/384) until the end of the year. Recently, I got a postcard from Adelphia offering me three months of the same service for 25% off after my current promotion expires. If my arithmetic is correct, my new rate was to be $32.96 per month, which meant I would have had a full year of discounted service cost. So, I was happy.

Then, yesterday, I got my December bill, and it looked wrong where my Internet service was concerned. To me, it looked as though I got a lesser discount than promised. So, I called Adelphia this evening and was promptly told my discount had been cancelled!
Before I got the first few words of my outrage out of my mouth, I was told there was a new discounted rate of $24.95 for four months that I could have. As best I can remember, that promotion a week or so ago was only for new customers. Further, it was explained to me that my odd HSI charge was a prorated charge from December 4th to December 31st, and my new $24.95 rate would start January 1, 2006. So, I'm a happy camper again.

I also asked the Adelphia billing representative what was going on with the Time-Warner/Comcast takeover of Adelphia. She claimed to know nothing about the takeover.
