I've been a Dway customer for nearly 2 yrs now.  For the past several months I haven't had much complaint; speeds have been pretty consistent with some slow down in afternoons and evenings.  Over the last several days though it's been horrible.  In the morning I'll be running pretty well with a connection of close to 1,000 Kbps & download of about 120 Kbps.  In the afternoon (just checked a moment ago and I'm down to 156 Kbps and 19 Kbps.

Is anyone else having this big of a slowdown?  I could sure use some help.  I dread the thoughts of calling Tech Support.  Also we had an ice storm the end of last week.  Could this have affected my dish or equipment?

Thanks!

I've been reading a lot of complaints from people on SatMex 5 on dslreports , so it's definately not your problem.

Dont worry, dont be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride.'

Yeah, SatMex is definately having issues.  I read something about the company that owns that satellite is going under, and can't afford to fix it.  Would be nice if Skyterra would buy it from them so that they could maintain it, but I doubt that would happen.

Is there any word on what is being done to help the issues with SatMex?

sometimes i wonder. all those dway users complaining of bad speeds.

if you live fairly far out, where no cable/dsl will reach, can you get a t1 or multiple t1 hookup? then you pool with a few neighbors, get one place hooked up, rent a ditchwitch and lay some cat6 to the neighbors and share a connection that is superior to sat in terms of speed stability and pings. and seeing as you pay around a hundred bucks a month for sat, a t1 at 350 would be not much more if shared among 3 people. with pings that allow online gaming etc...

just my US$ 0.02 worth.

DirecWay is having more problems with speeds other than just SatMex 5 .....last night Iwas told by level III there were server issues. Who knows, seems they all have a different story.
