Overclocking P4
«
on:
January 07, 2006, 06:37:40 PM »
I've been thinking of getting a new processor, opteron 148, but I figured I should at least try and do some overclocking of my current processor to see if it could last a bit longer. Its a p4 3GHz and right now I can't seem to get the fsb past 217 (15x217 3.225). If somebody could help guide me through this it would be much appreciated.
Asrock p4dual815gl
P4 3.0e
512 mushkin ram
2 160GB hardrives
If you need anymore info please ask.
Edit: Duh, this should be in the overclocking section

Why can't you get past 217? too hot? unstable? or you just can't set it above that?

Dosen't ASRock provide safe overclocking? I know mine dose. I took mine to far and it went to a black screen. Shut it down waited 5min and it reset the bios to stock

If I go above 217 it just wont boot up, im pretty sure its not heat so idk what the problem is. Oh well I was planning on getting a new processor anyway.

Could it be a problem with my ram or video card?

Yep, at 15. I don't think I have a very good mobo for overclocking, but it was the only socket 478 that would work with my video card.

Is the 3.0e a decent overclocker, would it be worth picking up a new motherboard?
