i got a nvidia geforce 6600 256MB gcard today and its default core clock freq is 350 and the mem clock freq is 460, im ocing my core clock at 361 and my mem clock at 472 so im not going to crazy and my idle temp is 40 degrees C, is that bad/ should i lower my OC? because im sure it will go up a couple more degrees or so after hours of gaming...os am i safe

no i oc'd the same card;
and have no problems with it.

what are you running the card in; big open case
or small compact case;
how many fans?

its not a huge case but its semi big, of course the g card fan, then i have a good heat sink fan for the CPU and 2 case fans (is that what you mean)

yeah thats what i mean; you should be fine.
the 6600 only overclocks a little bit, i know i tried.
not enough to melt it

ha, right, allright thank you.

yeah kinda ticks me off that you cant OC it more...but in all honesty i dont know about you but this card is very pleasing and is doing me well. does Doom 3 all on max settings and i get like 58 fps so im grinning

58 FPS; off a 6600 WTF, i get 101 in almost every game i play
Battle field 2
counter-strike
counter-strike-source
day of defeat
halo 1 & 2
condition Zero
half-life [almost all]

something to understand is that most of today's cards will allow you to run with stability up to about 70c - high !? believe it or not, its true - i run 42 most of the time on a 7800gtx - it leaves me a lot of room for overclocking on a stock heatsink/fan combo
