you also neeed to hook up your xbox to your computer and thats also a long story.  then you use comview and zone alarm.

you would need host to do it, so then you wouldn't be booting any standbyer or modder.  you will be booting people that aren't doing anything to you. (cheating)

Are you using a crossover cable from pc to xbox? Your router may be causing problems with this, try plugging directly into the modem and give the xbox a static ip.

Are you plugging the xbox into your pc with a second nic? Make sure that you are sharing the connection from your pc to router.

Under the network connections or places things what shows up? Does it show that your connection is bridged, or does the xbox show up? If it does show up try giving it a static ip: put in something within the ip range that your router has, and the same subnet mask and default gateway as your pc. Then on your xbox manually set the dns servers to the same as your pc.

You normally need a crossover cable to directly connect 2 devices... (PC and XBox for example)

you only need the crossover if your going directly to the xbox but if you go from your comp to a switch you can use a regular cat 5 and some nic cards can be directly connected

How do you have it setup? PC to router, xbox to pc? Do you have the connections bridged, are you using a crossover cable, have you given the xbox a static ip? A litte more information is needed so we can better determine what you are doing so we can help.
