Hello All
I have a Free Computer Help site and several users have been posting their results from your site at my site in this thread:

So I thought I'd come over to see what the fuss was about.

I tested my work account and not bad, but when I checked my Verizon home acount on DSL...... OMG what crap!
Any suggestions would be great if you all could help!

I really need some good advice for this crap DSL speed.
I am using Verizon's Westell WireSpeed DSL modem and nothing running but Outlook, Zone Alarm and Kaspersky AV 5.0 at time of test.

I turned off Zone Alarm and got the same results:

Never connect to the modem via USB! Always connect your modem via Ethernet (NIC) and make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC.
If you have a router set your NIC to 100mb full duplex for both Cable and DSL.
If you don’t have a router set your NIC to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it depends on the ISP.Not USB
Make sure to have the latest firmware for your router. No router
Power-cycle your modem, unplug it for at least 30 seconds. No change
Scan and remove all spy-ware. Done Daily with Adaware Pro

Ad-aware: http://www.lavasoft.com/support/download/
I would also turn off your software firewall when testing your speed, software firewalls might be slowing you down.
If you need software firewalls try these two:

Scan and remove all viruses.
If you don’t have one, AVG is free:

Go to www.cablenut.com and download the Cablenut Adjuster program. Use this program to open the ccs file attached below. Then, click 'Save to Registry', exit and reboot your comp.

Do your speedtests again to compare before and after speed results.

I just downloaded the file you attached because I downloaded Speed Nut program and added the file to my registry. I then tested my speeds and .... they were slower:

This is the key to the problem:

This connection is network limited 14.12% of the time."

Something at your end (receiver) is limiting speed. This can be seen by the RTT value of 1195 ms. Under normal conditions, RTT (round trip time) should not exceed 300 ms if you are in USA.

In many such cases, I will first look for line quality problem or electromagnetic interference on the signal processing devices - modem and router. Here are some interesting links of other people's experiences:
