I have a notebook with a NIC card, and a wireless card, meaning i only have one ethernet port on my comp. I have a Linksys WRT54GS v2.1 router. I have the ethernet cables, and a crossover cable, im just wanting to know how to set up to be able to bridge, or if i can bridge with this set up. Its also going to be done on a xbox360, if that matters. Any suggestions will help, thx.

yeah you should be able to bridge them.. cross over from the laptop to the xbox then connect the wifi.. right click the connection in network properties.. and click bridge.. that should be all that you have to do.. If that doesnt work then you need to turn on ICS.. which is under advanced window of the network properties.  Make sure that you select the Wifi adaptor as the connection that you want to share..

its the same as if you were gonna do with desktop with two ethernet cards, just instead of two ethernet cards 1 is a wireless adapter

yea, thanx for the help, i got it all up and runnin, except i dont actually bridge any connections like most tutorials show, i just share the WiFi. and yes gotmilk, im a bridger...for now

What we did was use a old WRT54G wireless router with dd-wrt firmware.   There is an option to allow you to use the router as a wifi client.. basically it turns the router into a wifi card and then you can connect 1 ethernet device.   It basically acts just like a normal wifi card.

what exactly does briding a connection do?  i too have a NIC and wireless card in my comp, and i bridged them once, but i didnt really see any 'benefit' to having them bridged, so i just changed it back to normal

PM me if you need help with this.  I am doing the same thing, but it took me a while to figure it out.

First Bridge the wireless and lan port together

Second, Remove both of them and leave the MAC bridge alone

Third, After you remove BOTH connections from the bridge area, go to the wireless advanced tab, and click on allow sharing to Network Bridge

Fourth, right click on the ethernet port connection (xbox) and move it to the bridge area.

Fifth, after both of them are connected, restart your xbox and enjoy the worst game ever made (halo 2)

yea well most people who bridge unfortunately do not use it to share connection.  THEY USE IT TO CHEAT in a freakin VIDEO GAME.  Let me know when your high rank gets you somewhere

well.. we didnt bridge the connection after all.. i dont know how you would cheat as it has been a while since I have played or read anything about halo2.  I am sure that there is a way with a computer to stat pad..

ok i am trying to bridge, i did what it said by crossin over my laptop to my xbox   and then i shared the connections so it is connected by a WNC and LAN.  i have it all figured out but when i try to sign in to live it all works but the DNS.
do u have n e suggestions for me?
please write back it will be a big help

everytime i had a dns failure i reset my router. sounds odd but worked for me and my neighbors, give it a try and see if that works.
