They year is 2088, and civilization is quiet. 4 teenagers are wandering around ancient mayian ruins, when the find hyrogliphics on the wall. So they translate and it says the world will end in at the very beggining of the year 2089. So they tell the government, but they just ignore them. So on new years eve right when the clock strikes 12:01, all hell breaks loose. Meteor showers, fires, explosions, unexplained deaths, etc. Basically Armagedon. Eventually one of the meteors bring a disease that plagues everyone on earth, except for the 4 teenagers. They were under hiding. When they come out, they find the world literally destroyed, and everyone on earth are zombies. So they have to combat them all, while trying to avoid the on coming meteor showers, fires, explosions, etc. I'm not going to give away the end.
