Well maybe the 12k test is the only way, but that is even bursting, see:
::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is:: 1135 Kbps about 1.1 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB)
Download Speed is:: 139 kB/s
Tested From::
http://testmy.net
(main)
Test Time:: 2006/03/06 - 10:46pm
Bottom Line:: 20X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 7.37 sec
Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 22.44 % faster than the average for host (direcpc.com)
Validation Link::
http://testmy.net/stats/id-HOJ51Y8PI
That's not really a burst. Some users consistently see speeds like that. (yes even on a 6000) You are just lucky enough to be on a really good segment of your transponder. That's one reason you need the 12k test to be the most accurate.
Dway is a bursty connection to start with. I can watch my bandwidth monitor jump from 1500Kbps to 300Kbps and back up to 1600Kbps all in a matter of 3 seconds. If you are getting more high download bursts than low one's, then your average for the test will be higher. That's why larger tests are always more accurate because there is a larger test sample.

I can think of only 2 or 3 things. One being that you might have a good route to this site. Most if not all the other test sites ive used are all Java Based.(not as accurate) I do know that when this site was updated with the new look, sometimes I will get crazy test results. I can watch my bandwidth meter showing a download at 1130Kbps, and the test result would give 1700Kbps. Are you using any software like Nortin Internet Security or McAffe that has firewalls or heavy duty real time scanning?

Did total recovery twice since it started, ccleaner at least once a week, virus and spyware free( double checked with every online scanner in forum posts) AVG Free, vcleaner, microsoft anti spyware, adware, Spybot, normally run IE6 with yahoo add on,Microsoft baseline analyzer, defragged at least twice a week, restart modem at least once a week, tried firefox, user profile hive cleanup, windows live safety scanner, TCP Optimizer old style from Rev's post.
Also scan and get updates in safe about every other week. I think that is all i know!
IE6 with no exceptions. Did not put Yahoo toolbar on this time.

Then I would recommend downloading a free bandwidth monitor, and watch it while you test at testmy, just to make sure it is accurate. I use FAPMON from
www.copperhead.cc
Helps me monitor FAP and speeds.

You have to pay for a membership first, though.

"The world is like a ride at an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think its real because thats how powerfull our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills, and its very brightly coloured , and its very loud and its fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question - is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us. They say, 'Hey! Dont worry, dont be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride.'

I just talked to a 45 year technician that had me run this test off of his site. Well I can't find an attachment in here, but anyway it shows a 1522.129 Kbps. He also said that there is probably nothing that testmy.net could probably do, that would be worth the time to change it and be worth it. He also said that if I can pull 2000Kbps + on this site, then it actually happened. He said that it would be a waste of time for him to come over to my house because all he could do, would be to verify that it is happening. And would do no good to anybody.
All in all he was pretty convincing. Any other ideas?

I know you got those speeds, but they're bursts. Bursts
do
happen... they just don't last.
And DirecWay could never pull a 2000Kbps download consistently with your package. NEVER. The satellites are too congested; Wildblue doesn't even download that fast.
I'm guessing on larger downloads on programs, games, etc. you see around 120-130 kB/s consistently, which is very good for DirecWay.
