Not liking to flame with another member, i would like to know if there is anything I could do to true up my speeds and thereby avoid further conflicts. So how do you slow down bursting, not just in test where you just test differently. I would just like to readjust what ever is going on and get true speeds again so I can post with out problems. Would also like to be able to test and know that I am getting what I am getting.

I test with testmy.net and also toast.net
Both test show about the same speed on my test. Maybe you are getting that speed!

If that is 850 Kbps then why does it test this way in here? I just want to stop lying if that is what I am doing, without doing it on purpose?
Before all the weirdness I was getting consistent 1030,s. Now how do I change it in here?

Can't say as I like Firefox, or that it likes my comp. Would say a good test but everything slowed way down.

tommie gorman ...might sound stupid but clear your cache out .  The tests here are a new test and it can tend to do strange things sometimes when your computer thinks it knows what it's doing instead of actually executing the code that's comming. Anyway give it a try. Sorry I don't use FF.....but I know other folks with a 6000 that do and their not having trouble. ;)

Did total recovery twice since it started, ccleaner at least once a week, virus and spyware free( double checked with every online scanner in forum posts) AVG Free, vcleaner, microsoft anti spyware, adware, Spybot, normally run IE6 with yahoo add on,Microsoft baseline analyzer, defragged at least twice a week, restart modem at least once a week, tried firefox, user profile hive cleanup, windows live safety scanner, TCP Optimizer old style from Rev's post.
Also scan and get updates in safe about every other week. I think that is all i know! sad1 crybaby2

So I would say it is safe to assume that my speed issue would be resolved, that my speeds are ok to post as correct, if no one can figure out anything is actually wrong with this setup by the end of the weekend, then I can claim everything worked that I did! And there will no more speed burst issues? As long as i test with a large file! Correct?

No not at all. My comp has been getting unreasonable speeds lately, and I was trying to resolve the issue. I feel sort of left out that I appear to not be at all justified in posting my scores as everybody else. Everytime I do even in large file tests, i get someone (not naming) telling me I am speed bursting. Although I have done nothing to cheat. My scores are a little unusually high, and mostly I just want to post on the forum as anyone else. So I started this post to see if anyone could resolve this so I can come out and play also.

That's not correct, but I probably won't pay attention to your speeds anyway. So it doesn't matter.

When one person gets way over the majority's average, and they're on the same plan, logic will tell you that it's not accurate.

Can you help get a majority average again?

I don't know how you got above, so I don't think I can.

You could try removing all your tweaks. Then test some things, see if it loads slower. And take a test (make sure you do it a few times, right after each other). Test at different times of the day, also.

I always get the most accurate tests when I test the 2992 kb test a few times in Firefox.

Since they've redone the site, I can actually test with Firefox and get a good speed. A lot of times in the morning it will be around 1.5 Mbps the first time, then it will drop down.

Remember the first night that Testmy made the changes? Everyone was getting like 1.5 Mbps or higher.

If you mean remove TCP Optimizer and redo, that would be no prob. Just not wanting to do total recovery, unless necessary. Didn't think Optimizer was actually a tweak.

After I remove the optimizer, this will be a good time to try newer wersion of optimizer. Where would I probably get  the settings for it. I'd pm justinlay but I thought they might be in here, except I have never been able to find them, even for other people? Is that not all the tweaks you see in my list.^^
Just for reference in the last week others are trying optimizer and increasing speeds, but no not like mine.

It's probably some kind of registry setting that is giving you a super high speed burst. I used to always get really a really high burst on my wired computer.

Don't mess with anything, I'll get over it sometime.

Problem is I don't give up that easily, I would still like to properly post speeds. My 1030 speeds were consistent and i felt comfortable. If a total recovery is necessary, then eventially, that is what will have to be done.

But there are some things different on the second tab. Host Resolution Priority is different from old.

The tweaks I posted were straight from SatSpeed.

I wouldn't worry about the other tabs... I've never done anything different in them, except for maybe the Max Connections per server tweak thing that The Rev posted about along with his "fastest ever" speeds.

BTW, the only reason he got those was because he was on a 1.5/256 package.

This is strange also: Speakeasy gives me an 890Kbps. You said that once your comp did a few strange things. Did it do it on all speed tests or just this one? This is the only one that it shows up this way. And of course this the only place I can validate.

testmy.net again: 1156 and 1559 with 2992

Man I don't have acess to the 5k or 12k test anymore. Did they remove them?

When they made the site changes, I was constantly getting them, and before that on my wired computer, I would always get higher than I should have been getting.

They've been making changes to the tests some, I think; so they may not have finished those yet. Maybe they did remove them, I don't know.
