when did you notice the speed increase
When I started this thread a couple of weeks ago. I had been in the mid to high 4000's until then. Now I'm consistently over 5000. Upload seems to have dropped a bit from my normal: ::::::::::.. Upload Stats ..:::::::::: Connection is:: 322 Kbps about 0.3 Mbps (tested with 579 kB) Upload Speed is:: 39 kB/s Tested From:: http://testmy.net (main) Test Time:: 2006/03/19 - 3:42pm Bottom Line:: 6X faster than 56K 1MB Upload in 26.26 sec Tested from a 579 kB file and took 14.74752 seconds to complete Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 22.43 % faster than the average for host (mindspring.com) Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/stats/id-SY471WG8P

Idk... Upload is better in ie: Your connection is: 479 Kbps or 0.5 Mbps You Uploaded at: 58 kB/s You are running: 9 times faster than 56K and can Upload 1 megabyte in 17.66 second(s) Member Ident: CompID:64027127210 Test Time:: 2006/03/19 - 4:41pm Test Browser and OS info: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) Test ID: 67Q1SZXOR (if this is a screenshot go to testmy.net to see if this is fake) Diagnosis ^info^: Awesome! 20% + : 82.13 % faster than the average for host (mindspring.com) This was tested from a 748 kB file and took 12.79488 seconds to complete
Your connection is: 475 Kbps or 0.5 Mbps You Uploaded at: 58 kB/s You are running: 8 times faster than 56K and can Upload 1 megabyte in 17.66 second(s) Member Ident: CompID:64027127210 Test Time:: 2006/03/19 - 4:42pm Test Browser and OS info: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) Test ID: M1AQCV3R2 (if this is a screenshot go to testmy.net to see if this is fake) Diagnosis ^info^: Awesome! 20% + : 80.61 % faster than the average for host (mindspring.com) This was tested from a 748 kB file and took 12.88512 seconds to complete
Download with ie about the same: Your connection is: 5682 Kbps or 5.7 Mbps You Downloaded at: 694 kB/s You are running: 101 times faster than 56K and can Download 1 megabyte in 1.48 second(s) Member Ident: Username:richcornucopia CompID:64027127210 Test Time:: 2006/03/19 - 3:44pm Test Browser and OS info: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) Test ID: 84TOXIMDC (if this is a screenshot go to testmy.net to see if this is fake) Diagnosis ^info^: Awesome! 20% + : 33.44 % faster than the average for host (mindspring.com) This was tested from a 2992 kB file and took 4.313 seconds to complete
I used to consistently get 7.2-7.5 which I was happy with, I never hit 8 but it was never as slow as 5.7.

dont listen or Earthlink, its timewarner or brighthouse whatever you have in your area is what speed you get, Earthlink is nothing, just email and software. dont listen to Earthlink.
Um....not exactly accurate. Each provider has it's own bin file. And unless his local carrier has an agreement to carry Earthlink at the higher speed then he will receive whatever his provider bin specs it at. Example...Bright House offers 7mb/512k standard to it's Road Runner customers but not to it's IJ or AOL or Earthlink customers. The exception to this would be if they actually have Road Runner as their primary and are essentially bringing their own access to Earthlink....in essence they are paying for two services (don't laugh...we see it alot esp. with AOL customers who just love AOL email for some insane reason).

I can't understand why anyone would want anything having to do with AOL.

I can't understand why anyone would want anything having to do with AOL. That makes two of us, but they do....at least for now.....many people resist change and AOL has them scared to death that if they leave them they will have to make all these terrible changes to their internet experience. Only changes I've seen are good things but you can't tell an 80 year old woman that. Rather than frustrate them its better to let them use what they know....after all...if you really think about it.....the real miracle here is that there are 80 year olds who just thrive on the internet through their AOL...who are we to judge them if ya know what I mean....

Yeah, I know. My mother-in-law is hooked on AOHell, but that's all she's ever used so that's all she knows. It's a crying shame really.
