Does anyone know if Earthlink has upgraded their standard package lately? I have the basic 5000/384 package and just tested my DL speed and got this:

Connection is:: 5506 Kbps about 5.5 Mbps (tested with 5983 kB)
Download Speed is:: 672 kB/s
Tested From:: http://testmy.net  (main)
Test Time:: 2006/03/05 - 6:45am

I guess so. Or maybe Road Runner has upgraded? I get my Earthlink from Time Warner cable who also provides RR in this area. Last time RR upgraded, so did I. According to Earthlink's website, their basic package is still 3000/384.

http://www.Earthlink.net/highspeed/faq/#s_fast

But Road Runner advertises this:

Earthlink is nothing, just email and software.

One more thing it is: $3 a month cheaper than having the Road Runner name for my ISP.  :haha:  :haha:  :haha:

new package is 7/512

Quote from: testmy.net Database

My guess would be that these stats are for a 10+ Mbps/512 Kbps connection.

- Download 30 Day Stats (Overall Average =    6746 Kbps :: 823 kB/sec)

- Upload 30 Day Stats (Overall Average =    478 Kbps :: 58 kB/sec)

LOL!! No, it isn't much. But at the current prices, it's almost 1.5 gallons of gasoline.  :haha:  :haha:  :haha:

But seriously, it's the principle. Besides, it's actually $8 a month more for Road Runner if you don't also include Time Warner cable's crappy service. What a joke!  evil6  evil6
