Everything was fine till this morning when I had a power failure and then the computer rebooted when the power came back about 10 secs later. When my computer had done rebooting my firewall told me something had changed and I made my firewall create a rule, and ever since that time my firewall is being slammed on that port every second. Any ideas on what uses that port, or how I can find out what program is asking for that port? It is blocking the access...but it's still a big nuissance.

Thanks

There isnt anything that i have found to use that port.. I what type of firewall are you using?  I would take a look at the logs and see if you can get the incoming IP address.   Whois it and then if it is residential report it to the abuse email.. If I find something on that port I will let ya know.

I looked at a listing of all registered ports.. http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers

and nothing is assigned to that port..

I know that there are trojans that utilize UDP ports.  Here is one I found: http://www.simovits.com/trojans/tr_data/y3045.html

Also, since UDP is a connectionless protocol, it becomes much easier to spoof the source IP in the packet header.  There are DoS attackes done this way.

I would perform a number of online scans.  I've found ewido to be good at trojan removal: http://www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan/

I would also download the program hijackthis: http://hijackthis.de/
You can post the logfile at that site for analysis.  Another good site for this is located at: http://hjt.networktechs.com/ where they also have a support forum: http://forum.networktechs.com/index.php

Post your log back here too so we can take a look.

I believe Port 32459 is the default port for uTorrent...but my problem disappeared all by itself  Confused , I'm not complaining about that its gone, it just disapperaed after I disconnected offline and rebooted.

If it's a trojan i can assure you the problem has not disappeared it's most likely laying dorment. What i would do if i was you guys is trace my steps back a bit think of any websites you visited, that could have something to do with this, and try to recall any, and all files you have accpeted or downloaded. Unless you have pissed someone off i doubt someone has hacked you. It's more likely you are the victim of chance, and have visited the wrong website or downloaded an insecure file. I would also download a program called TCPVIEW from http://www.sysinternals.com and watch all connections coming, and going looking for irregularities in connections. If you don't commonly watch your current connections this may not help much, but you never know. I would atleast use the netstat options from the CMD line to monitor my comings, and goings of connections. Chances are if it is a trojan removing it will not be enough as the person who placed it there has already opened some backdoors for later use.

Just a note all GOOD exploits are unpublished ones so if something does not look familiar to you don't always be surprized.

I'm using Outpost firewall,but it's not just 1 ip# slamming me, it's a bunch, I just copied a few examples

7:19:12 PM   218.14.150.37   UDP (19837)
7:19:12 PM   83.118.89.182   UDP (19837)
7:19:12 PM   212.32.96.75   UDP (19837)
7:19:11 PM   212.143.180.100   UDP (19837)
7:19:11 PM   220.139.231.200   UDP (19837)
7:19:08 PM   84.121.86.239   UDP (19837)
7:19:06 PM   71.81.230.7   UDP (19837)
7:19:06 PM   213.67.32.159   UDP (19837)
7:19:05 PM   70.30.63.155   UDP (19837)
7:19:05 PM   218.160.239.31   UDP (19837)
7:19:00 PM   220.168.79.53   UDP (19837)
7:18:58 PM   84.42.225.220   UDP (19837)
7:18:57 PM   70.24.193.104   UDP (19837)
7:18:55 PM   218.59.136.212   UDP (19837)
7:18:55 PM   88.136.170.103   UDP (19837)
7:18:54 PM   62.84.24.124   UDP (19837)
7:18:53 PM   220.129.67.136   UDP (19837)

I've ran some tests on every IP listed above, and most of the machines connected to those ips are compromised machines themselves in fact the machines above can easily be gained control of in most cases.

Unfortunetly sometimes after having had a trojan, or having been hacked the only sure way to know your system is truly clean is a fresh install. I'm not saying this is what you should do. It's obvious your situation should be examined more closely before any drastic action is taken.
