Good evening fellas.  I just got RR premium a week before, and at first the download speeds were okay.  However after I downloaded and followed some of Van's tweaks and instructions it's been running very slowly.  I thought maybe I screwed up, so I reinstalled Windows XP without formating.  Question is, could it be that my computer is that screwed up now, and I would have to format the whole thing, or could it be something else?  My download speeds been going anywhere from 1mb to 4mb.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Is it my computer?  Do I need to change my settings?  Or is just RR.  I have a tech guy coming in Saturday, but I don't know how much help he'll be.

Welcome to the forum brysg2  wave
Maybe if you had cleaned it first it might have acted different. You might try reading and following this. And if that does not work, try going back to original settings that you saved and starting over.

Never tweak before cleaning. Rule #1.
Post back a speed test on this 5983 test file. And make sure you clean out your temp files before testing.

Thanks Tommie, but however I cleaned before doing everything.  In cleaning I mean virus/spyware scans etc.  And I don't think I need to go back to my orginal settings, because I reinstalled Win XP no?  Doesn't that reset the registry and everything else back to stock?  Perhaps a new tweak might work, I dont know?

Hey there, good to see another member from Queens Smile
First off, lots of people recently have been having horrible speeds in our area..plus we have recently have had lots of rain so thats been one of the problems...also whenever you try a tweak you can just clear the settings so that everything is blank and then save them..which basically sets it back to default...but from looking at your tracert it looks good
So its not your computer or your settings...it might help having the tech come out

Hahah nice, I'm at Rego Park, and yeah the rains been crazy.  Hmm so it's not my computer.  I might just format it this time, and reinstall Windows XP to give it a try this time.  I can't stand this speed!!  I believe it was actually faster when before I had upgraded to premium.  First day I upgraded I was downloading QUICK.   However now it's BLEH.  Any RR's premium users have any tips or recommendations on what tweaks I should use on my computer?  And should I just format this sucker?  All helps greatly appreciated.
I'm at work right now, but when I get home I'm going to run a speed test and post.

Your pings and traceroute look very good.  I don't think that there's a problem with the connection.  It may be that you have other software leeching the bandwidth, or possibly the system resources.  Try cleaning up your startup items using MSCONFIG (disable everything you don't absolutely need on startup--keep in mind you can always start it manually).  Keep in mind that your firewall will affect your speeds.  You might try bypassing your router as well.

After that, run a Disk Cleanup from System Tools, and try a defrag too.  Then run a spyware and an antivirus scan.  I like the online scan @ www.ewido.net.  Once this is complete, and your speeds are still slow, try installing another browser (firefox, opera, etc).  If still slow, try another cablenut file from VanBuren's selections.
