I have had SBC DSL for quite a while now and noticed that my download speed is horrific can anyone help me. It may be similar to the problem at http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-14716.
Whenever I download i cant download over 40 kB/s when i should be downloading at 1.5Mb/s
Here are my test results:

::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::
Download Connection is:: 320 Kbps about 0.32 Mbps (tested with 386 kB)
Download Speed is:: 39 kB/s
Tested From:: http://testmy.net/ (Server 1)
Test Time:: 2006/06/19 - 1:49pm
Bottom Line:: 6X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 26.26 sec
Tested from a 386 kB file and took 9.875 seconds to complete
Download Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 15.86 % of your hosts average (pacbell.net)

lilaznweirdo89 welcome to the forum.

In that topic he had something downloading in the background that was slowing his speed. are you sure you have nothing downloading in the background. also have you done spyware adware and virus scans. also read through this topic http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-2097

and when was the last time your modem was reset, if its be a while i would give it a try.

  I had dsl and same happened to me. What I need to know is did this just start or has it always ran this slow? If always call sbc and tell them to run a few tests to tell if you are close enough to recieve higher speeds. If not then ask to be moved to a remote location if they have one that is what I had to do. But also if not always been like this try a modem reset leave off awhile then back on and scan for spyware etc.

try typing http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar and check and see what your connection speed is.  you may still be on rampup if you just got service.  If that's the case then it takes 10 days to get you full speed.

oh nevermind about the rampup part i didn't see where you said you have had service for awhile.
