Hi Tommie , yeah we do get a very light constant breeze , mainly from the west in summer , but that can and does bring rain, at the moment it is from the east and very light , I use my giant bamboo plant as a guide , it sways like a hot woman walks  ;)
I live about as far away from the coast as is possible in the UK,  55miles , I bet that makes you  Laughing, yeah I guess England is a small place,
I still cant get my head around humidity , is 100 % the  the point you have to wear divers gear, lol I never claimed I was the brightest pebble on the beach
I will have to research this more ,
also we are just getting windchill factors on our winter weather forecasts, which raises the comments, so what it's cold so you put a hat and gloves on,

humidity is the percentage of water saturation of the air. air at 0 degrees can hold little water vapor while air at 100 degrees can hold alot. this is why a cold glass on a hot humid day will "sweat". the air being cooled on the cold glass cannot hold its water anymore and the excess vapor condenses on the glass. so the humidity percentage given is relative, not absolute. the amount of water actually in the air at say 50 percent depends on the air temperature.

look into the sky. as warm air rises off the ground it cools off in the higher atmosphere. at some point it will cool off far enough to reach 100 percent humidity and the excess is the vapor that forms clouds, actually big congregations of little floating droplets. enough floating droplets and something for them to condense on (floating dust) and the droplets get too heavy for the updraft to hold and you get rain.

I hope this helps.

Absolute humidity is the mass of water vapor divided by the mass of dry air in a volume of air at a given temperature. The hotter the air is, the more water it can contain.

Relative humidity is the ratio of the current absolute humidity to the highest possible absolute humidity (which depends on the current air temperature). A reading of 100 percent relative humidity means that the air is totally saturated with water vapor and cannot hold any more, creating the possibility of rain. This doesn't mean that the relative humidity must be 100 percent in order for it to rain -- it must be 100 percent where the clouds are forming, but the relative humidity near the ground could be much less.

Humans are very sensitive to humidity, as the skin relies on the air to get rid of moisture. The process of sweating is your body's attempt to keep cool and maintain its current temperature. If the air is at 100-percent relative humidity, sweat will not evaporate into the air. As a result, we feel much hotter than the actual temperature when the relative humidity is high. If the relative humidity is low, we can feel much cooler than the actual temperature because our sweat evaporates easily, cooling us off. For example, if the air temperature is 75 degrees Fahrenheit (24 degrees Celsius) and the relative humidity is zero percent, the air temperature feels like 69 degrees Fahrenheit (21 C) to our bodies. If the air temperature is 75 degrees Fahrenheit (24 C) and the relative humidity is 100 percent, we feel like it's 80 degrees (27 C) out.

Hi guys thanks for the posts , It helped with the British obsession with the weather,  Laughing
just some tourist info on weather in Great Britain

"The United Kingdom  is situated off of the northwest coast of Europe, these islands extend between 50° and 60°N. The climate of Britain is notoriously variable and changeable from day to day. Weather is generally cool to mild with frequent cloud and rain, but occasional settled spells of weather occur in all seasons.
Visitors to Britain are often surprised by the long summer days, which are a consequence of the northerly latitude; in the north of Scotland in midsummer the day is eighteen hours long and twilight lasts all night. Conversely, winter days are short.
visitors will rarely experience severe or unpleasant weather for long unless they venture on the hills. They should be prepared for rapid changes of weather at all seasons,  and recognize that there is good reason for weather being a major talking point in Britain."   Surprised Rolling Eyes

now, it is the price of petrol /immigration/ income tax ,  confused1

we are not really obsessed by the weather ,  by tradition it is used as a coversation starter between strangers , you can hardly say to a stranger "got any pictures of your wife,   naked "
well not until you have finished talking about cricket, and Englands chances of winning the ashes, :whaa:

thanks for all the facts and figs. from your area, you sure do get some extremes , makes me feel a wimp  notworthy Laughing

   Regards Roco  UK
one for     Reso......
as I think he understands English ascents well , if you ask a English Public school boy to say   "particularly nasty weather" , it sounds just like "tickle your arse with a feather"
as seen on Brit TV many years back ,

yes there is nothing to beat 10 days of overcast and drizzle ( mid November)
oh Jeez only 4 and a bit months before that delight returns  Sad
and the 7 hours of dim daylight,  icon_pale
but considering the northerly latitude we average winter temps. of around 34-35F and very little snow if any in the London area , we get free heating from the gulf stream comming over from your side of the pond , making the UK 10F warmer than it should be ,but if the wind blows from the north east we get Moscow's finest , then it is cold ,   cry

I guess the weather can be miserable just about anywhere. Take Florida, they have pretty reasonable weather, but then along come hurricanes. And never a white X-mas.
