Ooh this is much better for the UK, today it rained for a hour or two,
temp. have gone down to a near seasonal average of 73F, after having a record high of 100.6 F, but we have just had 2 very dry years so there is still a water shortage, after a inquiry into this, it emerges my local water company looses more water than it delivers, due to leaks ,  so I have to accept a hosepipe ban , but still pay the full charge for my water supply $250 per year,   angry5
I guess my next new topic will be "it's cold " in 6 months time  Laughing and you guys will stun me with your winter temperatures,  Shocked
thanks for all the input, Knowledge is a wondrous thing , I think I have learned more since joining testmy.net than I ever did at school , yeah, I was always gazing out the window  Laughing

Well thank god it actually rained without the humidity, and has dropped down to a reasonable 84 degrees.
And I also had the same problem in school, it started when in kindergarten at nap time I would lay next  to the teachers desk just to see what was up her dress as I peered under her desk.  Never learned much, but I was curious.  Shocked

Had to look that one up.
The Budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus) or "Budgie", is a small parrot (they are often called parakeets but "parakeet" refers to many small parrots with long flat tails) originating in Australia, where it occurs throughout the drier parts of the continent. ...

Now that is funny.  Laughing

that day it was like 35% so not too bad...but it was really miserable even indoors because combining the high of 118 and the humidity it felt even hotter... right now it's 100 and 25% humidity...forcasted to be 110 and 15% later in the day...so we'll see...so like it'll be a pretty comfortable day Very Happy ...glad i got to looking at that

Roco; Since you don't have a TV I bet you still know who Benny Hill was.I wish I could have found a recorded version. I have heard one on the Dr.Demento radio show & I saw an episode of the Benny Hill Show with a skit done with this poem.
The Birds and the Bees
Poem by Benny Hill
I'd reached the age of fourteen and I hadn't started courting,
And my mum was getting worried about me.
She said, "Dad, it's time you told him all about the birds and bees,"
He said, "The birds and bees," and sat me on his knee.

He said, "Now, remember Uncle Joe and that picnic a while ago,
How he went off into the woods with Auntie Pat?
And how I chased O'Reily's daughter and what happened when I caught her?"
I said, "Yeah," he said, "Well birds and bees does that."

Dad works very hard indeed, well he got ten kids to feed,
Well ten and seven ninths to be precise.
And we all wear hand-me-downs, and as I am the youngest,
And the others are all girls, it ain't very nice.

Dad said, "It's time that you got wed," I said, "I'd rather drop down dead,"
He said, "Now how about old Maude from Ikely down?"
I said, "Maude?  Not bloody like, she's been out by half the chaps in Ikely,"
He said, "Well Ikely's really quite a little town."

He said, "You've got to get a wife, you can't go on enjoying life,
Or folks with think you're strange and start to frown."
I said to him, "Look, why should I buy a book?
When there's a thriving, lending library in the town."

One day I found a friend, he was up by Badgers End,
A little pigeon fell down by my feet.
His feathers was flecked with red and at first I thought he was dead,
Then I knelt and I felt his little heart still beat.

I cupped him in my hands and I ran home to my mam,
And she said, "Son, I'm as proud of you as I can be.
You're thoughtful and you're kind, and you've got a gentle mind,
And that will do a treat for your old father's tea.

I said, "You shall not touch my bird," and without another word,
I took him in my room and I shut the door,
And then I bathed and I warmed him and I nursed him back to health,
'Cause you see, I'd never really had a friend before.

I taught him little tricks, like playing dead and picking up sticks,
And the village girls, they brought bird seed every day. Oo!
"Dad, you can't come in," I'd shout, "Or my birdie will fly out,"
But of course I let the village girls all stay.

Well there was Mable from the stable, and Mary from the dairy,
We had a visit by our beauty queen.
And that great big Betty Mavery, and she's got her own avery,
She's got the biggest parakeets I've ever seen.

Dad said, "You ought to let him go," and Mum, she said, "Oh no,
You just want to get some shooting practice in."
But the vicar said, "My son, it really isn't done,
And to lock up a wild thing, that's a sin."

One morning when it was all still, I took him up to Badgers Hill,
I lost the only little friend I had that day.
Not a word I said, I just kissed his little head,
And I opened my hands and I watched him fly away.

He circled up and 'round, and then he settled on the ground,
And off he went straight up to the sky.
And then I looked and I could see he was flying back to me,
And then he swooped and he pooped right in my eye.

I thought, "That's bloody rude!" and, "Cor, there's gratitude!"
And, "I hope they never cross a pigeon with a cow!"
And Dad said, "Here, there's I see a caper, I'll go get a bit of paper,
I said, "Don't be daft, he's miles away by now!"

Dad said, "I know you lost a friend, but it's really not the end,
You'll be married and have a family of your own quite soon."
Well I never said a word, but you see, that little bird
Has lured eighteen little ravers up to my room!

So if anyone's got a spare cockatoo or an old crow they don't want,
I'd be very much obliged, because you know, I could put them to good use.

Hi guys  I nearly wet myself ,Benny Hill  Laughing
right first things first , the weather in London
78F,   wind SW 6mph , humidity 56% ,still a bit warm and above average,
Hi Cholla I think you should be made a honorary Brit ,  Shocked Laughing

A sequel to my "Rosalind where are you " we parted company at the age of 11y to different schools , I think she got tired of my continued requests for a action replay behind the bike sheds,       until ( move forward 12 years ) I am driving through town
in my Mini Cooper S, being Jack the lad, it was raining , as I passed a bus stop I just happened to notice a gorgeous blonde waiting at the bus stop along with a number of people , I suddenly thought thats Rosalind, slam on the brakes ,quick flick in reverse ,weave back through the hooting traffic , open the window "Rosalind "  yes "its Roy from jnr.school do you want a lift " thanks,  common kids   :whaa:
3 of the perishers climbed in the back ,  Rolling Eyes

Benny Hill  yeah very funny guy, yeah I used to chat with him from time to time .
I used to work next to the studio in Teddington , the home of "Two Ton Ted from Teddington " Benny led a reclusive life ,  most lunch times he would walk to local paper shop rather than stay in the studio,   he was a nice guy , my last memories of Benny
was seeing him walk past the Church  dragging his newspaper along the railings  cry

Birds  Laughing when me and  my wife separated (amicably ) she got a cockatiel  :whaa: yeah,
I got dumped for a parrot   Laughing she has now got tired of his screeching and given him to me , so I can honestly say my wife gave me the bird  Laughing
he can talk some, and I am worried he may have been planted as a spy,  Rolling Eyes

Well Roco another celebrity you've met.Between the two I think I would rather have met Benny.I like the Onslo character in the sitcom I posted. He wore a GreenBay Packers Tshirt a lot on the show.Which I thought added to the comedy.
I don't know about the honorary Brit but if the queen invites me to high tea I might think about it.  ;)
Oh nice weather there .

Hi Cholla I have sent the Queen an e-mail  Laughing if I dont get a reply I will pass it on to the FTC  ?
Onslo, in keeping up appearances, he Had the right idea  Very Happy I didn't know you had the series in the States

"The show was also an unexpected hit in the USA, achieving relatively high ratings when screened there by a number of Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) stations. This US popularity led to the making of a special programme, The Memoirs Of Hyacinth Bucket, screened by PBS stations in March 1997 but not seen in Britain; this featured highlights from previous episodes with a newly taped linking narration, in character, by Onslow and Daisy. Hyacinth was also considered by Americans to be a character worthy of further TV exploitation, and network producers momentarily contemplated a US adaptation, to have been set in Boston, perceived as the heartland of American social snobbery."

is this right you have snobbery too, we must have exported it over

Good neighbors , that had me fooled , it was the good life in the UK,
and stared Felicity Kendal , just about every male  Brits dream at the time  ;)
yeah met a lot of stars back then , I worked in a boatyard next to the studios, and lots of them had boats, they were good days,  Laughing
