I just got transitioned to roadrunner today.  I just had the standard package so it was kind of an upgrade for me.  My upload went from 463 to 512.  and my download provisioned rate went from 4,800some to 5120.

I would think for the people already on the premium wouldn't they just upgrade you folks to the 8mb package?  I would hope they wouldn't do any downgrading of speed.

hmmm thats interesting
what were their packages, and would they stay the same say if they changed over to brighthouse

Each MSO (cable company)  that is in the RoadRunner partnership can offer it's own packages.  Time Warner is one of 7 MSO's that actually comprise the ownership of the RoadRunner brand name as is Bright House Networks (contrary to popular myth not currently or ever having been "owned" by Time Warner).  Bright House is owned wholly by a privately held company (Advance Newhouse Publications) although in certain markets Time Warner (for a short period of time) operated areas like Tampa Bay Florida for Advance Newhouse...

nope not yet, but i'm in no hurry.  There is suppose to be no difference in speed at all.  They are keeping the 4/384 and 6/768 packages that adelphia had before.

where are you located?  In Ohio the speeds are 5mb down 512 up and 8mb down 512 up.

Same here porsche6714. Aggravates me to think that T.W.C. won't be rolling out the Extreme tier of 16Mbps\2Mbps in our area, so I guess I'll have to wait for FiOS.

On another note I seen a speedtest from 14227 (Sloan\Cheektowaga) and I wonder if that's true or someone just Bullsh~~~~~ and entered that zip incorrectly.

I was transitioned from Adelphia to TW a little over a week ago.  Currently everything is running fine except I absolutely hate my new caps: 8/512.  I go from a 108kB/s upload with Adelphia to a 60kB/s upload with TW.  How crappy is that?  With TW's 8mbit cap, I get ~930kB/s... which is nice, but when compared to the horrific 60kB/s upload, it shows how unbalanced TW is in its bandwidth offerings.  Also, TW has began early upgrades on the east coast (mainly New York from what I've read).  Not sure how many of you knew this.. but if your area is upgraded early '07 (mostly areas where TW has FiOS competition), the new caps will be 10/384 for basic and something like 15/1 for Premier (or whatever TW calls its fastest tier).  TW has been sending fliers to my house for almost 2 months, advertising their next upgrade as 10/1 (for the Premier tier), so I'm wondering if we'll be skipped for the 15/1 upgrade?

If I've learned anything from this transition, it's that everything I heard regarding TW's lack of willingness to give a decent amount of upload is TRUE.  I'm not expecting 15/3 or whatever FiOS is offering, but something around the 108kB/s Adelphia was giving me would suffice for now!  I don't know why TW is so paranoid when it comes to upload.  I assume part of it has to do with people running servers on their home PCs and chewing up a lot of bandwidth... however, there are those of us who need that bandwidth for legit purposes.  One such purpose I can think of is my sister sending her digital photos to her boyfriend overseas.  Sending those digital photos takes a while when there are 3 other people surfing the internet at the sametime.

Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox.

That's the point; only areas that have COMPETITION get immediate attention from ISPs.  You haven't gotten a flier mentioning a 10/1 plan "coming soon?"  You should be happy they're advertising 6/768.... I'd love 768Kbps upload!  I sort of wonder if the fliers I've recieved were just sent out as a blanket to the entire county... and TW only plans to upgrade certain areas where they compete with FiOS (perhaps Murrieta, Yucaipa, etc).  I could soooo see them doing that.  And it seems Adelphia's Extreme tier (16/2) is non-existant - I wonder if those who had it were bumped down to 8/512... ?

I'm in NE CT, and we're in the middle of the Adelphia to Comcast changeover. My download speed has dropped from around 4000Kbps to an average of 1400Kbps in the past couple of months. I'm getting tired of calling and getting shuffled back and forth between both companies tech support, often being hung up on multiple times during transfers.I've tried all of the tips I have found here, and my speed stays right where it is, and it's slowly getting worse. My last discussion with an Adelphia tech ended with him admitting that my speeds were slow, but that they didn't guarantee their advertised speeds, before being transferred back to Comcast, then hung up on one more time.

I spent a couple of hours doing the Comdephia shuffle before giving up... Here's the log.

Called tech support... on hold waiting for tech 10 mins... their end hung up.
Called tech support again... on hold waiting for tech 10 mins... their end hung up.
Called tech support again... on hold waiting for tech 10 mins... their end hung up.

Mark from Comcast answers. They have trouble finding my Adelphia account... on hold for 15 minutes. I'm finally transferred to an Adelphia tech, who tests my modem, admits that the speeds are very slow, but they don't guarantee advertised speeds. He transfers me back to a Comcast tech, who also tested my connection speed, and told me that they're slow (gosh golly... no kidding dude!), and suggests sending out a technician to check the outside wiring. He then takes my modem's MAC ID, puts me on hold, and hangs up after about ten minutes. At this point, I gave up.

I'll call another 2 times over the next month, taking as many details as possible, then report Comcast to the BBB for false advertising and horrible customer support. Then I think it'll be time to check out DSL services since I'm getting slower than DSL speeds now, but paying cable rates. To add insult to injury, I just received a letter informing me of Comcast's rate increases starting next month. Seems that maybe we should send a squad of pickpockets to Washington DC to try and rescue our elected representatives out of the communication companies pockets. We need these monopolies broken up, and allow multiple cable companies to do business in the same areas.

mcbarker welcome to the forum.

that really sucks what they are doing with you. I wouldn't have put up with that, i would have already switched to DSL. Hopefully it will get better once the change over is finshed.
