You know where I can find my PSU's voltage? And would I need a new operating system once I set up a new mobo?
its on the side of the power supply, and you will just need to reinstall the OS if you get a new mobo

My Hard Drive is a Western Digital with an IDE ATA interface. So what you're saying is I should look for a motherboard that supports my hard drive? Then if all else fails I will just wait till vista comes out.
And since I have 2GB of RAM should I turn off SwapFile?

If i were you i would get a new motherboard and not format the Hard drive and see if it works. If it doesnt work then yoiu have to purchase a new os. As for ur hard drive pretty much all motherboards support that hard drive, not a problem. As for the swapfile i dont have nearly 2GB of ram so im not sure wat exactly is the best way to go.

I downloaded a program a while back called Relentless Spider. I normally used it for rapidshare stuff, but I found out I can see a huge list of info pertaining to my computer.
Property Value
CPU Clock 3000.71
System Bus Clock 800.19
System Clock 200.05
Multiplier 15.00
Original Clock 3000.00
Original Bus Clock 800.00
Original System Clock 200.00
Original Multiplier 15.00
Overclock 0.02%
L2 Cache Speed 3000.71 MHz
L2 Cache Speed Full
CPU Family / Model / Stepping F / 4 / 3
It's just text it doesn't give me any options to change the values. I swear my comp was 3.0GHz but now it says 3.02GHz

what type of cooling is needed to overclock a Pentium D 805 2.88GHz to 3.5GHz?
I currently have a 300W stock power supply in my Gateway 831GM. I was thinking about removing it and adding it to the new Motherboard I am going to get.

If it's even possible with the hardware you get, you'd need liquid cooling at least. Or a massive air cooling setup. That's quite an overclock..

ive honestly read about this particular processors and peoples reviews - they claim they get 3.5GHz o/c on air - i dont know how true this is, but the best thing would be a good air cooler - ....i dont know how true those reviews are...but you might need a better power supply and give it a try

those 805 seem to overclock real well on some of the review i have seen, specifially the one on Tom's hardware. They oced it to 4.1GHz but that was with expensive hardware and watercooling.

PSU specs
Power
300 Watt
Power Supply Type
115/230 Volt, 50/60Hz
Im trying to get this set up under a $500 budget.
Is it possible to get a motherboard, cooling system, better psu, and a pentium d cpu that is sufficient enough for overclocking? (even if I can only get it to 3.2GHz I will be happy)
heck, why dont I build a whole new pc :-/
