Hey all, I decided to post a speed test since I haven't in forever. Lets see some speeds from you all as well..

::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::
Download Connection is:: 984 Kbps about 0.98 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)
Download Speed is:: 120 kB/s
Tested From:: http://testmy.net/ (Server 1)
Test Time:: 2006/08/08 - 9:26am
Bottom Line:: 17X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 8.53 sec
Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 24.915 seconds to complete
Download Diagnosis:: 90% + Okay : running at 95.16 % of your hosts average (direcpc.com)
D-Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/stats/id-PT4UW7MQ3
User Agent:: Opera/9.01 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en)

On the slow side today. I was going to run and upload test, but it was taking too long. I'll run one later. My brother must be doing some kind of S#!t. Here's my trasmission report:

Number of Successful Transmissions    193364
Number of Failed Transmissions   784
Number of Packets Submitted for Transmission   90188

Not bad, .004 failure rate (if I remembered to do it correctly).

I am new to Hughesnet and am having troubles trying to download some larger files I have the pro pac and am looking to get a pro + tomorrow so I can get a static IP it seems that port forwarding is my trouble and need to open a port to download faster I have speeds that last for a few minutes and then it slows up to under dial up speed.
I hope this upgrade will do the trick 1.5 download and a static IP. If I sound a bit noob it is because I have been reading forums for 2 days now trying to figure this out and have come to this conclusion I wanted to see if my speed looked ok or is there something I am doing wrong?

Welcome to the forum davidrose9  wave
Clear out your temp files before each test.
Browser at the top*Tools*Internet Options*Delete Files Including Offline Content*OK*OK*Test
That will make it much more realistic!

Try this:
Start in lower left corner*All Programs*Accesories*System Tools*Disk Cleanup*check all boxes under files to delete*OK
It cleans out your temp files in a different way.

 tommie you forgot the firewall thingy. I went round and round with z/a, finally went back to windows firewall. Have run all the proper test and they say I'm invisible. My speeds were better. Just a thought.

I never used zone alarm, so I was not familiar with it.
I always used windows firewall.
But firewalls do make a diff.
Thanks deven  Very Happy
