OMG that speed is horible.  My first question is the most hated one of all.  Are you aware of FAP?

http://www.dslreports.com/faq/4496

If you are not being Fapped, I would first recommend that you try testing directly from the DW7000.  Sometimes a bad router can cause these headaches.

Are you running an antivirus such as Norton Internet Security?  Or a firewall such as Zone Alarm?  Many times these programs will choke your connection, esp NIS and ZA.  Try disabling them before testing.  Let us know what happens we're here to help!

Download Connection is:: 110 Kbps about 0.11 Mbps (tested with 386 kB)
Download Speed is:: 13 kB/s
Upload Connection is:: 55 Kbps about 0.1 Mbps (tested with 97 kB)
Upload Speed is:: 7 kB/s
I cleaned up the system and ran Optimizer. I also changed the cable to another network port. This is a new computer and at this point I have nor installed Zone Alarm or any other security programs. My signal strength is 67. I am not FAP'ed at this time. I hit that level yesterday when I was updating software, but that is the first time I have ever ran over limit. I have not disconnected the system from the router, but will do to verify any changes.

 wink Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and advice.

You need to post what Sat and transponder you are on which can be found in the advanced modem section. You must connect thr PC directly to the modem to isolate and speed up the procedure for anyone to help, as said the router could be bad.

Fortunately I've been on G11 since my 4000 but that was 990 but it was good. In Jan I upgraded and the 7000 was bad, got a new one a week later and that one went the first part of Sept so I'm on my third DW7000, but seems to work OK.

In my opinion sharonkt, unless you are at least running 700 Kbps. you are definately not running right. No excuses. The minimum Dway allowes is 200 Kbps.  You may be the victim in a bad install. How long has it been installed  Question I am wondering if you are properly grounded ?

This is a new computer and at this point I have nor installed Zone Alarm or any other security programs.
And for goodness sakes get some security on that computer.

Might I suggest AVG Free and AVG anti-spyware 7.5. Both free and low on resources, meaning little drag on connection for slowing things down.

Is there something else running in the background? Try clicking Ctrl + Alt + Delete to see what all is running in the background.

Tommie - I am downloading AVG as I type. icon_pale

The dish has been up for about a year. There has been a gradual reduction in speed, but I did not know enough to track the numbers, so I have no frame of reference over the year. I just got a new computer and was disappointed that the additional ram did not produce additional speed on my internet connection.

I do not know how to find what Sat and transponder I am on. I looked on my control center page and did not find it there. Please tell me how to find this info and I will post with a speed test without the router connected.

I am going to contact Hughes and see if I can get a tech out here for a check-up.

Thanks All. Your help is GREATLY appreciated.

When you are testing, do you clean out your temp files?  Top of your browser*Tools*Internet Options*Delete Files including Offline Content*OK*OK*test now.
Post a speed test with this. Just click on the link below and paste your speed back in here again..
http://www.testmy.net/dl-2992

It looks like you are using the SmarTest, which always gives me poor scores.

And what did you set the TCP Optimizer speed dial at  Question

You also have to look at what time you are running the speed test.  Peak hours are better and worse on different sats.  Last night, I was hitting 150Kbps during the worst part.  Try a test in the morning, just so we can see if it's an all day thing...

Last evening I noticed my speeds were also slowing into the 600/85 range.....as a rule up until the past few weeks my speeds where not slowing during peak hours? I'm sure this is a NOC related issue.

I spent several hours on the phone with tech support last night. They have taken the case to Lvl 4 and will call me back with results in 48 hours.
I ran the speed test from the Hughes Customer Help page this at 4:00am this morning before work got speeds of 900+/40+.  I did not have time to run the testmynet speed test, but will tomorrow and post the result. I will let you know what tech support came up with also.

Well if you got 900 @ 4:00 AM, then that is pretty good on Dways speed test site. Better than I have EVER done on it. Looks like you almost have it figured out. Best wishes sharonkt,  icon_thumright
*fingers crossed*

But that U/L needs major improvement still.  tickedoff
