Hi, I don't know much about computers so cut me some slack if I say something too stupid.   Rolling Eyes

I ordered Optimum Online boost about a week ago and the modem just came in.  (Had to replace my old modem.)  After hooking it up I checked the test on here and it didn't look anything like the advertised speeds.

::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::
Download Connection is:: 8615 Kbps about 8.62 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB)
Download Speed is:: 1052 kB/s
Tested From:: http://testmy.net/ (Server 1)
Test Time:: 2006/08/29 - 2:00pm
Bottom Line:: 150X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 0.97 sec
Tested from a 12160 kB file and took 11.563 seconds to complete
Download Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 89.71 % of your hosts average (optonline.net)
D-Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/stats/id-F7BEA1SG0
User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; InfoPath.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)

Should the Boost upgrade be working right away after hooking up the modem or does it take a while?  Or is there something on my end that I should be doing?  By the way, I do have the modem connected to a router but are connected to the router via ethernet cable and not wireless.

Might want to power cycle the modem... Unplug the modem fir 3-5 minutes..  Tis should force the modem to request the latest configuration information..  So give that a shot and let us know

when you order boost you dont even have to reset the modem it does it for you but if you want to check if you have boost just do a quick upload test and if it is more than 2000 upload you have boost Wink.  after that you have to tweak your computer to get better speeds and also what router do you have?  what modem did they send you ?
