Is there any firewall and Antivirus that when working together will offer protection yet not slow down speedtests..or do they all basically slow down connections when taking a test?

AVG does not slow mine down at all. And even though some will puke on this one I just use the original one that came with my comp. I think it is Microsoft. Have had no slowdowns or problems.

Yea I had used AVG before but found it wasnt for me lol..but like you said if you have no problems and you like it then why change right...but it seems fine for me so far...browsing is fast with my Kaspersky and Comodo firewall i don't think there is any software firewall that wont slow down your speed test.
Haha...yea I just came to that conclusion..but to me,security is more important than a test...anyway thanks for the output guys!!

Well I have PC-chillin right now and althought its not the greatest stuff i've had, i have seen no difference in speed tests from the before and after installation. From my personal experience Zone alarm was the worst. Cut my download in half.

I have pc-cillin... from trend micro.. It is one of the security suites.. It doesnt seem to affect the download speed to much.. However, it takes about 25mb of ram to run.. I have yet to find the perfect solution to this.. I am still a fan of the avg/zonealarm combo.. for most users it is more than they had and is pretty stable. I am thinking about moving to Kaspersky's Internet Security suite once I am done with Triend micro.. http://www.kaspersky.com/kis6

And I love how it updates every 1-3 hours..sometimes less

Kaspersky owns! I am still a fan of the ‘hardware’ firewall versus the ‘software.’

kaspersky is a good software firewall if you don't have a hardware firewall.
I still wouldn't run a software firewall so matter what.

I'm a long time user of ZoneAlarmPro ( I have 6.5.722 now) and Kaspersky 5.0.383 and when I run speedtest here I am always getting results over capped on both DL & UL test. The only exception is when I run test over at DSLReports I need to shut-down ZAPro completely.

I am trying out Comodo firewall and Comodo antivirus. I am having a problem, my windows security center and a new program "Active Security Moniter" wont detect the Comodo antivirus I installed. Everything is up to date with the antivirus, and I also did a full system scan and it found no virus. Before I uninstalled AVG antivirus, Active Security Moniter gave me a 95 on my score which was excellent and now it's giving me a 66 on my score, as you can see on the attachment Anyone else using comodo antivirus?
what other "free" antivirus is good besides AVG that has an automatic updater, email scanner?
