It starts over 4, then drops to between 3.75 and 3.8...
Takes about 5 minutes to download a gig..

Did you try and google the exact error...I'm sure if its a common problem, it will show up sooner or later on forums...Does it say which component is missing?
Have you uninstalled it, deleted the folder, and reinstalled with a copy that you know is good? Meaning not a torrent...
Just curious, do you have a lot of problems with games normally or crashes/hangups? Someone stated possibly bad memory, and thats a possibility....You can run Memtest86 --->
http://www.memtest86.com/
on a floppy, and see if it passes, just to make sure.
*** Also, make sure you have updated Direct X --->
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en
Try updating the Direct X, and see what happens.

Only game ive had problems with crashing was BF2 another game by EA
most other games are fine. I mean i guess its a possibility of a memory issue. I dont have a floppy disc drive on my pc so i cant do that mem test. Im redling another 2142 from fileplanet cuz i know it should be a correct version from there. Ive already tried like 4 tho.

Did you try updating your Direct X ?...I found some people who had "missing component" error, and it was fixed by updating the Direct X ...It may be why BF2 crashes too.

The nice part is, unlike with my cable, I get those speeds all day and all night. We've had FIOS for almost a year now, and I have still yet to see one slow down or outage(except for when the power goes out, which is pretty common for LIPA). We get 30/5 every hour of every day. Cable would slow to dial up daily @ 5pm, and I never got my full speeds..
Ryan, get that freakin thing fixed, so we can go kill some people.
FIBER RULES! ;)

Good to see you got it working...
Game rules don't it...I can run it at full settings too! Did you do the "destroy the enemy Titan" map...(same map, one is just taking the missle silos), the other is taking the silos to destroy the Titan, which you can board...There are also launching pads on some of the vehicles, which I have yet to figure out.
I have to study for an exam today
. Have class till 9pm, then I'm gonna come home and kill some more people...
I'll post here what server I am on...
I'm using this name:

Ahh thats how you do it...I like flying the ship around, and having a bunch of gunners...If you load that cargo ship up, and have all the gunners, thats a potent weapon.
