My speeds are awesome (average 3.5 - 4MB). I am a tech support and I have seen a lot, it seems that the most common issue is reggarding your location and of course what "package you have (Lite, Full etc.).

I live in TO, and my download speed is good, most o fthe time around 3MB/sec. But my online gaming sucks for the past so many weeks. I always play on one particular server, and it has gone from 50 to 240, making it virtually unplayable. ALso if I search for any server, the best ping is about 150. Must be some kind of routing problem.

If I just Ping www.rogers.com or tracert www.rogers.com, those results are quite terrifying. I think that the lowest number will be in the 50ms.

Hi guys. For anyone with poor gaming performance (and not only) I strongly suggest investingin the best router on the market, bar none. D-Link DGL 4300 (Wireless 108G Gaming Router). Even if the price is a little steep, it is worth it. Do some "shopping arround. For anybody interested here is the link: http://games.dlink.com/products/?pid=370.

Well Duffman when I started I was just like you.  Usually in the 2 - 2.3M range.  I just used the TCP Optimizer at www.[this.site.has.been.blocked.for.spamming]   You'll find it under broadband...broadband tools at the top of the page

Its a very simple program that sets your modem to its optimal settings. From what I was told by netmasta its similar to cablenut but not quite as advanced.  You just click on your connection type at the top of the program ( cable, dsl, etc) and click on optimal settings at the bottom.  It does require you restart your computer so you might not want to be downloading anything at the time Smile

Anyways its always been safe for me but as always SCAN 1ST.  Better safe than sorry

Glad I could help.  I have noticed that once every 6 months or so I do have to run it again (Rogers reset thier servers maybe ?? ). But its not something you need to worry about running all the time.

If you're on Rogers Express arent your supposed to be getting the 5 Meg connection?  I'm on thier normal high speed which is a 3 meg connection and I get almost the same speed as you do.  If you want you could try the TCP Optimizer at [this.site.has.been.blocked.for.spamming]

Hopefully it will take you to the 4.5 - 5 Megs you should be getting.

Everybody, look!!
My download speed is less than 1Mbps. If it is during peak hours, it's even worse.
I called Rogers tech support today and have them check on my modem and everything, they said everything looks fine on their end and there is nothing wrong with my modem. Even the tech support guy has no idea why my download speed is so slow. I have tested it with and without the router connected, as well as ran the test on different computer, but all the same. The download speed sometimes is even slower than my upload speed. What a crap!!
The tech support guy said that he'll have the engineers to take a look tomorrow, but they'll probably say the same that they have no problem with their end. Geez... what can I do? Help!!!
