Clearwire is a new wireless service providing access to numerous U.S. cities (and some in Ireland, too, I think).

Please add it!

Just adding the information that is requested in the sticky...

1. Clearwire

2. www.clearwire.com

3. Its main office is in Las Vegas, NV, but it is available all over the place (even outside the US).

I'll include my benchmark at the bottom of this post. I don't know how to check how many times people have run tests from them. It's *supposed* to be up to 2.0 (they just upgraded) Mbps download and 256 Kbps upload. Here's what I got (and the tweak program that's really popular around here doesn't seem to affect it for me):

:::::::::::::::::.. testmy.net test results ..:::::::::::::::::
Download Connection is:: 317 Kbps about 0.32 Mbps (tested with 386 kB)
Download Speed is:: 39 kB/s
Upload Connection is:: 172 Kbps about 0.2 Mbps (tested with 386 kB)
Upload Speed is:: 21 kB/s
Tested From:: http://testmy.net (Main)
Test Time:: 2008/01/05 - 1:39am
D-Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/stats/id-LD1RBOE64
U-Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/stats/id-0R1N47ASD
User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.04506.30; .NET CLR 3.0.04506.648)

p.s. This was with 4 out of 5 lights on my signal strength indicator. I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes. Also, I'm in Seattle, WA. It's available in a lot of other cities around the country, though, and a couple outside of the US. It's gaining popularity because it's portable. You have a box about the size of a thin hard-back book, and you just plug it into the wall and your computer, turn the computer on, and you're connected.

Oh, a WISP, weak signal is one of the culprit for slow connection.
