I been playing the quake 3 mod Urban Terror for years, the dev team has now realeased a standalone free version...

I think the engine is from wolfenstein ET

Lol I play Quake 3 at school like everyday. I usually play on that CTF Demo Style server.

...it said i needed to have iourban terror installed also. its only a 1.6mb file so i can download that in like 15 seconds, but does it make a difference?

yea you need that aswell

install the ioUrbanTerror first, then install the Urban Terror (550MB)

make sure to install them to

C:\Program Files\UrbanTerror

ok thanks, i'm going to redo that then, i installed the wrong one first.

edit/ also why is your gun like transparent in the pic you posted vanburen? every other screenshot i have seen the guns were normal.

i installed it and played on a ctf server. and i was ok, but i like using machine guns and stuff, and most people had snipers, so i gotta learn to use those more often  Rolling Eyes

if you hit § key in game, you see console

i changed r_gamma to 2 makes the maps lighter

just type r_gamma 2 hit tab and enter

default is 1

also you GUI you can set gunsize, search for it in options.

thats the onlything ive changed

if you want a faster mouse change sensitivity

type sensitivity 5 tab and enter for default

6 is faster 4 is slower

many of these players been around for ages, but ive noticed many newbies after the release, if you learn those snipers they own, even at close range.

i am going to work in a little bit so i dont have time to play right now, but when i get home or tomorrow sometime i'm gonna play more.

i have learned the sniper pretty well so far, i just need to get quicker reactions when i see someone with a sniper walk around a corner. and i need to learn to use hte grenades better.

also one question what do you use as inventory, do you use the laser sight, or the kevlar or armor?

always kevlar, and helmet if its a crowded map with many "sprayers", if they hit the head and your dead unless you have helmet.

i always have kevlar except on long range maps (like on ctf game i played earlier people were in windows picking each other off. then i used a laser sight and smoke grenades, with a sr8 and mp5 with a desert eagle

i had to restart the game for some reason to have it save to the favorites, but i got it....
thats a sweet werver van, even though i was getting pwned through most of it, but i did win a few rounds for the team. lol towards the end i just clicked no for grenades then that opened up another slot so i had kevlar and a helmet lmao thats why i didnt die so quick  :haha:\

edit/ heres a screenshot of what i was running untill i switched to the g36 in the smaller maps
and for some reason my ping goes up to like 200 when i play, which is extremely high for me, maybe its because i'm now behind a router?

you did good, its also harder to play with a 200 ping Smile

i dont know the route, but you said it was increasing during gameplay, that is a sign your rate might be too low

try this

open your  your C:\Program Files\UrbanTerror\q3ut4\q3config.cfg with notepad

change these

seta rate "25000"
seta com_maxfps "125"
seta cl_maxpackets "42"


also seta r_gamma "2" if you want a lighter map

click save and test again

ps if you are on a dual core PC, game run smoother if you set affinity in taskmanager so game only using 1 core

its pretty straight forward...most people use the sr8 on bigger maps so you might want to get used to sniping...
i caught on in about 20 minutes of getting owned by people on van's server
