Hey guys, once I again I need of yar help  angel

Im gonna be buying webhosting services in a few days, and I only have one real use for it and thats running a internet radio station. so my question is, is shell access available to install the DNAS Server program and set it up?

If so, how do I go about using shell and what are a list of commands and related stuff?
if not, what sort of access would I need to install that program?

Thank you once again : )

I am assuming linux or FreeBSD host?  Depending on the host, the only way to get true shell access is to have an unmanaged server aka dedicated.  What this means is that you basically bought the box.   If that is the case then the software that you are trying to install should have a README file which after un-tarring it, the linux equal to zip, you should read.  To get access you would SSH into the box.  There is going to be no graphical display on the server so everything is going to have to be done via command.

well, im gonna be using dreamhost and its probably a shared server, however Ive seen some people host winamp TV on those servers (desync is how I came across dreamhost) so I, guessing its prolly linux and the list of features also highlited SSH.

But the thing is, I have 0 knowledge of it so any tutorials that could get me started into downloading stuff and installing would be nice : )

dreamhost gives you are very limed shell access. Your not going to be able to host a winamp tv on a shared server. Your going to need a dedicated server.

whats your budget for a month?

your going to really want something dedicated

look at http://canaca.com/dedicated.htm

for $25 a month you get a real good VPS server
