AVG is a pretty good solution.. I am not going to lie.  If you like AVG you might want to check out Avast.  It update more than AVG but every time it does, an ad is displayed for the full version which is like any other suite available.

Yeah, AVG or AVAST if you want free. But if you are willing to pay, Kaspersky is the best.  smitten Am deciding I want to start paying myself. Considering it.

Kaspersky is expensive.. but it keeps the computer safe and running pretty well..  I would recommend trying the trial version before dropping the cash for the retail stuff.

I like McAfee, Just because I get it free with Comcast. Otherwise I would use AVG.

They all perform relatively the same function, just make sure that you have a FW and AV installed and that you keep them up to date.  I have never found any valid reason why you need to pay for either with so many good free ones to choose from.  Check with your ISP -- most will offer security software for no additional charge to your monthly service fee and also support any issues with them.  Connecting a router to your network is an added security bonus, as well.

Well my OS's now is WinXP Pro and MCE and for both I use ZoneAlarm Pro, for MCE I use Kaspersky and for WinXP (Pro) I use Norton 2005

As of late i have been using Zone alarm and it seems fine, but i would like to hear other people's views on there favorite's. Or two separate stand alone programs you use instead. Thank you

I use the AGV combo too, but the antivirus is EXTREMELY slow. It takes like 3 hours to scan. When I first installed it, it took no more than like 45 minutes. What could be wrong?
