dont rely on 1 antivirus program theres no harm using 2 antivirus on the same pc
Whatever you do, do not try that logic with McAfee and Norton. That combo has been known to crash computers.  nono nono nono

Been using Trend,  (it seems to have problems with Outlook Express) and they have raised prices big time. I'm looking for a new Utility.

I liked Trend Micro at first too. Read this: http://www.testmy.net/t-20662.msg237099#msg237099

I had some problems getting AVG's e-mail scanner to work in Vista's Windows Mail the new OE.I finally got it to work correctly after to some changes to the WM(OE) account settings & AVG's E-mail \properties settings. The common install did not put the correct settings in automatically.

Yes, but Kaspersky Anti-Virus is way too expensive @ $59.95 for most folks to spend just for the hair better protection it provides for one year.

For the rest of us it AVG free.  Razz

NOD32 is only $40, and $28 for renewal.

Besides when i had AVG and AVAST my computer would always crash, get slow, and have virus attacks, it (politly) Messed-up my system. i reformated over 8 times, when i had AVG and AVAST. When i heard about NOD32, i tried it out, and i noticed my system was getting faster, so i stuck with it. now it has been 1 year and i have had 0 crashed, slow downs, or problems. I have it now on my laptop and Desktop. My laptop has Vista, and it works great no problems.

AVG and AVAST sucked for me and never worked (I never had AVG or AVAST on my laptop because i got my laptop in July 2007, and i feel in love with NOD32) Also i love NOD32 because it has Pro-Active defense, and has silent automatic updating, and Anti-Stealth mode, and Threat-Sense Technology.
Basicly what i am saying, IMO, NOD32 is better than the Free AntiViruses based on personal experiences and personal virus testing (beyond EICAR)

if you configure it right, and stop the porn sites....AVG free is perfectly fine. so dont bash it.... only go to sites you trust, and open stuff you trust, then you wouldnt have to pay for unneeded protection....

edit/  btw, man you know im kidding about the porn sites and stuff....  but yeh, i am sticking to what i said about avg....its perfectly fine if you dont go getting into sites/files that you dont trust.

I never go to the bad sites,

you know that viruses come from any where not just porn sites, and bad sites. they can come from programs that you think looks good but in fact it is a backdoor trojan that opens a port to your pc.

You know you can get a virus from just plugging your unpatched computer into the internet and going to google.

Sounds like you were doing stuff that you shouldn't have been doing  :haha: :haha: If your having to reformat over 8 times your doing something bad, probably something with warez because AVG doesn't do the stuff you are saying it is doing.

2funny :haha: 2funny I ahte to say this, but I hit those places all the time. Avg has me protected very well. Nary a virus one. And I have a few spyware programs also.

So its not just virus's that take one out. Plus malware, and like Dlewis said, there are a lot of things one needs to do to keep up on things.  Laughing
