just remember: if something in the mail/email whatever looks too good to be true it probably is. if you have to wonder about wether something is safe the default answer is no.

also:

NO BANK WILL CONTACT YOU BY EMAIL OR PHONE NOWADAYS. IF YOU DO RECEIVE SOMETHING IN THE MAIL THAT LOOKS WEIRD

USE THE NUMBER FOR THE BANK YOU KNOW IS RIGHT, NOT THE ONE GIVEN ON THE SUSPICIOUS DOCUMENT AND CALL THEM FOR CLARIFICATION.

THE BANK HAS ALL YOUR INFO. THEY WILL NOT RANDOMLY ASK YOU TO CONFIRM IT. ESPECIALLY NOT ONLINE OR OTHERWISE.

IF SOMEONE CALLS CLAIMING TO BE FROM THE BANK TELL THEM YOU WILL CALL BACK AND HANG UP. THEN CALL THE BANK AT THE NUMBER YOU KNOW IS RIGHT, NOT ONE GIVEN TO YOU ON THE PHONE AND CONFIRM WHAT YOU WERE TOLD.

KEEP COPIES OF YOUR CREDIT CARDS AND ATM CARDS AT HOME OR WITH YOU IN A SAFE PLACE WHEN TRAVELING ALONG WITH THE NUMBERS TO CALL FOR ASSISTANCE/CANCELLATION IF THEY GET LOST/STOLEN.

CHECK THE CC AND CHARGE CARD BILLS ALONG WITH YOUR ACCOUNT STATEMENTS FOR SUSPICIOUS CHARGES.
