I thought I had it bad a few years ago when I built a dual processor system with 1.2GHz Athlons and due to bad ram showing up and my budget being almost completely run out, I was forced to live with 256 of ram but dang this guy has got me beat.

What yall should really look into for anyone that is stuck in a situation such as this is a program called Psiphon. It is completely free and what it does is that you setup 1 computer to connect to the network and then everyone elses computer uses that computer as its proxy out to the world. You could just have 1 person on campus set it up on a computer running Norton and then the rest of you can use what ever program you want since it will be running through the psiphon proxy.

The program was originally written for people in countries such as china that the government blocks access to certain sites. They could have friends in the united states or other countries that do not block sites set up the program and then the people in the restricted countries won't be held back any more. Seems like it could fix yalls problem as well.

I don't use one since I have good av's & other protection but there are programs called "sandboxes" where you can at least DL & open mail in a virtual drive.I haven't used one but you might check one out.
I still have the 2 Norton registry entries that wouldn't let me delete them but all other Norton has been removed from my computer. If I could delete them those would be gone too but I haven't had them cause any problems I know of.I just don't like something left in my OS I removed .

I know I typed this here somewhere before, I use Kaspersky on WinXP MCE and Norton 2005 on WinXP Pro.

Now I don't have problems with Norton (not yet) and here's what I did to tweak the program; Norton will not start up when I power up my pc; Norton will not run in back ground (except for Internet worm protection) and I will update the database signatures manually.

I believe Norton 2008 beta is now available for public downloads

You mean why weren't they aware they suck (Norton) they are, but like AOL if the cash is flowing they are there to fill their sacks up. Why not. It's only money.  evil
