Small review on chello...
This isp offers a few packages, ranging from 256/64 to 4096/1024 and has 8192/1024 as the most expensive package. Prices aren't bad, ranging from €14.95 to €49.95 and finally €79.95 for über speed.
For years my dad payed for 1500/128 (which eventually became 4/1 Mbps), and we got 300 Kbps down and 12 - 100 up. After tweaking the down went all the way up to the cap (14xx or so, because of the long way to America), but upload was still lame.
First upgrade came at April 2004, after waiting for 2 months. My package went to 2560/384, and after a bit of tweaking I could reach the down cap, but upload remained unchanged. After a while I figured out where that upload went: to everyone else on the node. At 5 AM I got 200 - 250 Kbps. at 7 AM 100 - 150. At 6 PM: 12 - 24 Kbps. An old modem was to blame for the slow upload.
Last upgrade came at 17th of December 2004 and speeds improved to 4/1 Mbps which I can now reach at all times.
With the last speed upgrade chello has become a major competitor again in the Netherlands, and although the speeds are excellent here, there are a lot of people that complain about slow speed. Learn to tweak morons.
