well it really doesnt say much just that it is "upto 256Kbps download "
here is the link to the page

I have the "Fast".

last night i thought i would upgrade the firmware on my modem, the modem i have (actiontec gt704-wg) didnt come from qwest, so i download the new firmware from actiontec, went through the upgrade but now the modem powers on the dsl light will blink along with the power light then both will go to solid green, no internet light, and i can't connect to the modem by typing in the IP

Which brings me to another problem I have been having. The internet will be fine but then all of a sudden it will just drop the signal, the internet light will just shut off, and the dsl light will blink, then the internet light will turn red then go green, I have called Qwest but all they said was that it was my modem, and that my line test were great.

Do you have a friend or somebody else that you can borrow a modem from to see if that is the problem before you spend money on a new one? I don't know if Quest is like Comcast ,for the modem to work you have to give Comcast the MAC address. Did you turn the modem off for a couple of minutes ,then turn it back on after you upgraded the firmware. I don't know if it just me ,but your link for your advertised speed is not working.

Yeah ive been wanting to test out another modem, i just need to track one down. yes i did turn off the modem for i would say about 3 min maybe less than that.    remembering back, i have tried to upgrade the firmware before and what i have to do is re-run the "first time installation" disk that came with quest.

Correct me if I am wrong. You are paying for the Fast plan which is download speeds up to 256 Kbps, right now you speed is 1179 Kbps you are 923 Kbps faster than what you are paying for.You should be happy, you are getting more speed than you are paying for. What are you paying each month to Qwest?

Than you are on the faster plan according to the link you posted. You are pretty close to what the download speed of that plan is,I do not think you will get much more speed out of it.
