Howdi all!

Heres the deal, I have an extra computer taking space here, and I would like to install a linux on it and make good use of it as a firewall. I was wondering how I could do this, what linux is best for that, will it work fine with my current router, etc?

If you are less experienced i would suggest shoreline.  Although IP cop may be a more simple application. experiment a bit, nothing is to difficult when you want to achieve it.

Thanks for the quick reply mudman, one thing that I am allways strugling with is how to set up my pc with dual nics, although I have only done this under Windows.

Basicaly, I want one computer directly on the net, whilst fowarding to the router and to the rest of the computers, perhaps u could share a tip on how to set it up correctly.

The best way to do what you are describing is the use of a web proxy and NAT.   Any surfing is done by one single box.   Meaning that the client PC never actually touches the outside world when surfing the web.   Smoothwall is IMO a the best of the mentioned.
