Well i wonder if someone could re-write that part of Windows to have the registry in LOCAL FILES instead. (Would be an interesting project (Especially if it worked
))

It is in local files. 5 of them.
Your registry is 5 files that control basically everything your Windows PC does, and if one of them has a problem your totally F#@&ed. It would be a huge plus for MS if they would just trash the whole registry in windows 7.

I just tried EasyCleaner 2.0, after running CCleaner til it couldn't find anything, and EasyCleaner found like 100+ more entries. Love it, thank you!
So many other options also!
Edit
: Windows XP Professional SP3 - Found that it doesn't like staying stable, crashes after scanning for duplicates.
Gonna restart see if this helps.

So it wasn't such an EasyCleaner after all?

Restarted did not help, sad actually I was looking forward to using this program. Good features, just very unstable. Oh well.

That is why registry cleaners shouldn't be used. They don't work. They cause more problem then they solve, and often you never no the problem is there. The registry is so complex there is no way to clean it, with out doing it by hand.

I agree, I'm not saying they don't find things that are misplaced, corrupted, remnant of an installation prog, and all that other crap. But ever notice how it just makes you " feel good " , in thinking everything is fine, bu8t then why does it take so long to find them all, yet like 500 milliseconds to delete them ? Because it's not deleting them, just masking them by saying the program recognizes them, so it wont say there's anything wrong again, by flagging them. Thats my best guess as to how they work anyway.

All I know is I get better speeds by using the programs. Calling a plumber does not work either, but S#!t sure goes down hill a lot better either way.

Thats the thinking effect. You are thinking you are getting better speeds when you really are not. It happens to everyone, and it happens with many tweaking programs.
Deleting a 100 records from a registry with 100 million entries wont make a difference. Deleting 10,000 wouldn't even make a difference in performance of your computer.

It's purely coincidence that everything runs better after a registry cleaning.

It is in local files. 5 of them.
I dunno why i overlooked that (Yes i know)
Why are the 5 files put into a 'REGISTRY' then?? (Must be for easy access of them)

I don't think anyone actually knows. I have never been able too find a solid "the average windows registry has X # of entries" It would not surprise me at all if it was north of a 10 million on the average system. If you ever dig through one, its folder after folder after folder with entries in each of them.
