straight from my momma to u...rule of thumb tho when ur knowin that ur gonna drink to excess...for every drink u have slam (and i mean slam) one room temp glass of water (12-16 oz) this gives ur kidneys something to process besides alcohol, avoids the whole hangover thing cuz u won't be dehydrated and u won't feel like S#!t in the morning...trust me on this one...just do it...u'll be amazed...

i'm not even sure what a hangover feels like because my mom gave this tip to me and i've always done it...

the reason behind it...alcohol activates a hormone (adh...antidiuretic hormone) that starts a process to draw fluid to kidneys for the reason i stated above...if ur not drinking water it sucks it out of every cell it can and because of the high water content in ur brain, it gets compromised and literally gets thirsty...hence the headache the day after...(one of the first sign of heat prostration is a headache from dehydration)

drinking all that water won't effect ur "buz" but it will help flush it out faster while u sleep and u'll wake up feeling great and ready for ur treadmill

nuff said...i'll shut up now Smile

So is that the same effect whether your drinking whiskey or beer? I would think it depends on alcohol content of the drink as well.  undecided  I drink strong drinks when I drink. So I might have to down a full half gallon everytime.  Hmm....

well if i remember right...beer actully triggers more to be released...

i think the harder the alcohol the harder ur liver works to eliminate the poison...

with the less alc content ur body is just trying to dilute it and give ur kidneys a break...

but i'd have to research that...all i know is...what ever i drin whether it's shots or wine...every drink i drink a glass of water...never had a hangover in my life...been tired...from lack of sleep but no hangover Smile

When you wake, just start again right off the bat, as soon as your fingers are able to open the next cap,  problem solved ! You'll be right back where you were in no time.

For some reason the next day I am struggling to feel normal though. I also eat greasy food first, then proceed to take 4 aspirin before crashing out. And a carbonated caffiene soda in the morning helps.

I haven't had a alcohol drink in about 6 years, but when I used to drink to heavy...I would take a couple of aspirin(headache pills) before drinking. Would help kill some of the hangover. But the best way for me to not have a hangover was to not go to bed until the next night. So awake for about 36 hours(stop drinking by 2am and stay awake and go to work for 9am). Unless it was a heavy drinking on the weekend, resulting in passing out when I allowed it.. And no. I am not in any 12 step program. But I could of been if life had gone down a different path.....
But if you ever see Wine ad's from Ontario In Canada, they like to infer that 'Summer is short, so drink a bottle or more now'.... Instead of the relaxing by the beach with a bottle of Corona... But Wine is only a harmless fruit drink, right?

But I can eat tons of food and hardly gain weight. I have a over active nervous system and it massages my body all day. And food gets processed through my system fairly quickly. The only way I can put on weight, is to binge eat. Stretch out the stomach for a week or two then go on maintenance portions for a week to gain 5 pounds in total. I worked on a property for a few months fencing and road building and being a dry climate, I didn't quite keep up the water intake and lost some pounds. But I have put on more weight, as of late, not doing too much. Still a healthy weight though. And on purpose.
So I'm one of 'Those' people who hates the 'smaller portion' rules some areas are trying to implement. A 6 ounce steak is not a meal. For that price I could eat more at McDonalds and actually feel full. Until my stomach tries to process it, that is....I Prefer Wendys fresh food.

Yeah I used to be like that myself. Till I reached the middle 30's. Then it went the other way.  wink

I could eat till whenever, and not gain a pound back then.

Thanks guys I got right back on my diet. I wish I would have known about the hang over stuff before lol. Let's say worst hangover ever. That's not my issue now though, I now have no job, no car, and a cell phone bill that needs paid in a month, and I am going to need a place to live...So I may not be on in a while...It's about to get rough, I have no idea what to do.

I would like to add something. I have been eating a pack of ramen noodles for lunch with HALF of the packet of flavoring. Let's hope this doesn't screw with my diet. Cheers

Yeah, stay away from the starches (noodles )

Have a can of warmed veggies instead. Or some fruit.
