Instead of the ready made quesadillas .I suggest a homemade burrito.Which is close unless you want an authentic quesadilla which I doubt the commercial ones are anyway.
Let's go with a simple bean & cheese one.Take the tortilla of your choice.Just remember the larger the tortilla the more calories.
Heat the tortilla in an iron skillet just before your ready to stuff it.No oil on a wheat flour a little oil for a corn one.
For the beans for quick mash canned pintos after draining &rinsing them. The juice they are cooked in has a lot of calories. Then take a fork & mash them adding water if necessary.Add a good chili powder ,hotsauce if you like it hot,
Whatever spices you like on you Mexican food.
Then warm the mashed beans in a sauce pan over low heat stirring till hot.
Spread on warm tortilla add grated real cheese.
If you like you can warm an oven proof plate in the oven so you make it on a warmed plate.
Of course you can add any veg you like to this or some salsa.Mine usually end up so big I have to eat them with a knife & fork .
The reason for mashing you own beans is canned refried beans contain a lot of Lard.

I know double post but no other recipes ?
How about a low cal dressing as long as you watch the amount of olive oil.
Malt vinegar.olive oil, garlic powder, black pepper,& powdered oregano or an Italian seasonings mix.If you like it hotter some Cayenne .

Is Olive Oil Good for Weight Loss?
I was asked this question on a weight loss forum, recently.
The answer is:
All oils, including olive oil, are 100% fat. They contain 9 calories per gram (120 calories/tbsp) which means they should be used sparingly if you want to lose weight.
I agree olive oil is good for you for many reasons including it is a monounsaturated oil.But caloriewise fat is fat. so like above if you are watching calories you have to pay attention to the olive oil quantity in the dressing basically use more vinegar.

Hmmm on the cholesterol , I never figured what thats all about ?
I know mine is about 4.6 to 5.2 , and my doc says good going ,
but I know some Vegans that are in the 7-8 range , ? I still think it's partly inherited ? , but then I am not a foodaholic, it's just fuel to me ,
Olive oil , seems to have found fame do to the lonGBrevity of Italian farmers , the Chinese live longer, and they use peanut oil ,
I personally think modern world stress plays a bigger part ,
compounded by the lack of physical exercise ,
How can you tell the difference between olive oil and virgin olive oil ?
apart from the label , I asked once at the store customer help desk .
after explaining I was a man of the world and didn't embarrass easy ,
Nah, she didn't laugh either

i see where u got ur numbers...i was checking to see if they were correct...yep...that's what it says on this website (word for word...even the part about being asked on a forum)
http://www.annecollins.com/dietary-fat/olive-oil.htm
imo...as far as fat goes...calories aren't the only thing he needs to look at...one fat isn't the same as another fat...it's all about how ur body is gonna process it and what it's gonna do with it once it's processed...and olive oil has so much flavor...i seriously buy it by the gallon...i even use it at breakfast...yummy on everything...but just use common sense...it IS a fat...and is for flavoring
wanna compare lipid profiles...and guess what...i eat real butter...yeh my momma always said "it's all in the breed of cats" meaning alot is hereditary...but alot is healthy eating...and i ain't putting no fake fat or fake sugar in my mouth...gimme the real stuff and alot of it
i also refuse to count calories...but am aware of what i need and when i've had enough...just listen to ur body...and turn that tv off...and turn the music on, get up and dance...
exercise at least 3x a week including 30 min of cardio...at 20 throw away what's left on ur plate...and don't feed it to ur dog...he wants to live longer too...many small meals a day...and take ur time eating...substitute olive oil for other forms of oil, butter or margarine where possible...ur lipid profile will thank u...

Yes as far as the calorie count of olive oil strait from a web site.Of course one fat is not equal in health benefits as another. It seems the transfats are the really bad ones like in margarine.I'm sure that has changed over the last couple of years at least some.I grew up eating margarine because my parents were told it was healthier than butter. Now we know better & I too use real butter instead of margarine.
Not quite the olive oil consumer tdawnaz is.I like it as a salad dressing ingredient,as the oil on garlic bread & in homemade spaghetti or pizza sauce.
For me that's about it.I don't want everything to taste like olive oil so I don't fry with it.

I bet you know the difference but extra virgin is the first press oil,& it goes down from there.Differences in olive oil can vary by the quality of the olives pressed.Things like degree of ripeness make a difference. The health benefits may be unknown compounds not just the monounsaturated fat.
