Well all...My scale says I weigh 274 now...Did my one meal a day work for that time being?

I'm still going to suggest the Atkin's diet & using MBR.If you want to take off some weight quickly. Then after you have reached your goal weight go back to a balanced diet.Try Atkin's for a couple of months & see what happens.Do you think a couple of months of eating mostly meat is going to kill you?It won't unless you have a serious medical condition which you need to find anyway if you do.The only warning  I give about Atkin's diet is don't cheat.Cheating does make the diet medically dangerous. The reason is the interaction of the fat with too many carbs.
Also Atkin's IS NOT a liquid protein diet That is completly different.
Just get Atkin's first book & follow it.

before you start ANY diet do your homework on that particular diet...read these articles top to bottom before you delve into the atkin's diet...potentially a very dangerous type of diet...if your not a diabetic now you could be when your done with atkin's and your kidney function could be compromised...

tdawnaz : I can see you are con the Atkins diet & I'm pro .I'm sure I could post several links on the pro Atkins diet side.
if your not a diabetic now you could be when your done with Atkins and your kidney function could be compromised...
Could you site some cases where it has been proved the Atkins diet caused either or both ?

Instead I'm going to post about Dr. Robert C. Atkins he received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical School in 1955, and went on to specialize in cardiology. In his more than 40 years of practice, he has cared for more than 65,000 patients. He was once summoned by Senate.I couldn't find an online copy of his "Statement of Robert C. Atkins,M.D. to the Senate Select Committee on Nutrition and Human Needs April 12,1973" that is in the back of the "Dr. Atkins Diet Revolution" book. It's about 9 pages so I didn't type it.
No charges were brought against Atkins by the Senate & his Medical license was never taken from him.So I guess those in the medical profession against Atkins couldn't prove him guilty of malpractice.

To make an example that links against any diet can be found here are some on the "Food Pyramid":
http://www.karlloren.com/diet/p109.htm
"While the government has stood by this regimen for 11 years, some critics say it's no coincidence that the number of overweight Americans has risen 61% since the pyramid was introduced"
http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/463268 ( the link worked in Google but this way it requires login.or you have to copy & paste it into Google)
"The USDA food pyramid probably has more to do with diabetes and obesity than Krispy Kremes," Fitzgerald said.
http://thehealthadvantage.com/notesontheofficialpyramid.html
"Thank goodness Uncle Sam has now created a website to counter all that. . . Now that the pyramid has been completely hijacked by the food industry and promises to be as useless an educational tool as it ever was, it’s time to hang up the
effort altogether."
http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/pyramids.html
"The new USDA dietary pyramid is a lost opportunity to help Americans make informed choices about diet and long-term health," says Walter Willett, the Fredrick John Stare Professor of Epidemiology and Nutrition in the Departments of Nutrition and Epidemiology. "It's clear that we need to rebuild the pyramid from the ground up, not just tip it on its side and dress it up with new colors. Every American deserves it."

already did huny Smile potentially letal diet...

and dr atkins died of cardiac arrest and major organ failure including kidney failure...probably unrelated to his diet...but how ironic given the findings of many studies done on his diet causing those health issues

I looked through the links in reply #94 & didn't see any that matched the above quote.
Of course all diets are "potentially lethal" no one has continued to live forever on any diet.
So far it hasn't been proved to me.How about a specific case?

and dr atkins died of cardiac arrest and major organ failure including kidney failure...probably unrelated to his diet...but how ironic given the findings of many studies done on his diet causing those health issues

http://curezone.com/art/read.asp?ID=134&db=7&C0=6
"The serious snowstorm that hit New York City the day before the incident, along with unseasonably cold temperatures, left streets and sidewalks slippery. As was his daily habit, Dr. Atkins walked from his home to his office, a distance of about one mile. At approximately 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2003, he fell and hit his head, suffering severe head trauma. Keith Berkowitz, M.D., a colleague at The Atkins Center for Complementary Medicine, was arriving at work at the same time, and was able to rush Dr. Atkins to the hospital within minutes. The doctors at the hospital emergency room determined that Dr. Atkins had suffered a subdural hematoma and that surgery was required to remove the blood clot from his brain. He survived for several days but eventually succumbed to complications."
He remained in a coma until he died but nothing directly related to the diet.He simply slipped & busted his skull.

:haha:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Atkins_(nutritionist)

Quote
Around 2000, Atkins started to develop a heart condition, cardiomyopathy, which he claimed was unrelated to his diet. On April 18, 2002, Atkins suffered a cardiac arrest caused by an infection that spread to his heart muscle. At the time, Clyde Yancy, a cardiologist and member of the board of directors of the American Heart Association, was quoted as saying, "Despite the obvious irony, I believe there is a total disconnect between the cardiac arrest and the health approach he (Atkins) popularizes."[1]
On April 8, 2003, Atkins slipped on ice and fell in front of his medical office in New York City and sustained major head injuries that put him in a coma. News of this quickly turned into rumors that Atkins had a heart attack while he was on his own diet. He never recovered from his injuries, and subsequently died on April 17 of kidney failure.

i was wrong he did not die of cardiac arrest...but had suffered cardiac arrest previously...but he did die from kidney failure and complications from major organ failure

my point is...eating healthy mixed with healthy exercise is the way to go...fad diets don't work long term and can be dangerous

if atkins worked for you that's great...

but to me the key is get up off ur bum and don't stuff so much in ur mouth...that's it Smile

The latest addition to my exercise equipment arsenal is an Inversion table.Very relaxing.
Myself I'm about 15 pounds over what the "weight chart "says I should be .I can knock that off with about a month to six weeks of Atkins.I don't stay on Atkins all the time .I don't need to some do if they are going to keep their weight down.
As for the reasons given by the autopsy you have to consider the source.Done by the same medical profession that constantly put down Dr.Atkins.M.D. & tried to take his medical license .The same one that were willing to violate their medical ethics & the law in releasing the autopsy. So I take the results "with a grain of salt"
I would say to die of kidney failure(if that's true) in 9 days after walking a mile to work everyday & that is an indication of  an attitude of doing other exercise. Is a little hard to swallow unless he caught an infection while in the hospital.Several people die each year from infection caught in a hospital so that is a definite possibility.Or with a head trauma so severe he was in a coma his brain may not have been controlling his organs properly.
