Europe's new orbital cargo ship has launched from French Guiana on a mission to resupply the space station.
The ATV will now essentially be parked in space. It must wait until the US space shuttle Endeavour has completed its forthcoming mission to the ISS before moving in to make a docking.
The ATV is the largest, completely automated rendezvous and docking ship to go to the ISS. When it attaches to the platform on 3 April, it will do so without any human assistance.

Astronauts on the station will only intervene - by pressing a red button on a panel - if they sense danger. ,

so move you ass Endeavour crew , we got a truck qued up  waiting to dock , and it's meter is ticking ,  Laughing,
not sure I would want to be a crew member on the ISS , with only a red button
to save them from a driverless  truck with failed brakes ,

it's already broken.

one of the 4 fuel control systems failed. they are gonna see if they can ferret out the problem by april. otherwise, they say, they can still hit dock with the space station with only 21 of the 28 maneuvering thrusters operating.

Laughing another costly dud ,
best chance now is if one of the space station crew could lasso it as it drifts by , any Texans on the ISS ?

had to smile at the quote "by pressing a red button on a panel - if they sense danger.!"
notice with all this high tech stuff  ,  it still all comes down to the human brain to "sense danger "
we have some crewless shuttle trains in the UK, I still notice the pasengers bracing themselves at the end destination , lol me included
elevators (lifts in UK )  we don't have many high rise , so not so common here , the new shoping mals have all glass elevators ,
50% of shoppers won't use them ,  evil6, Me , well I use the stairs  , just for the exercise , honest  Laughing

Europe's space freighter, the ATV, has had its propulsion system fully restored after an earlier glitch had closed down a quarter of its thrusters.

Good news , guess they were members of Euroasist road side breakdown service ,

Rockets that launch closest to the equator benefit from a slingshot effect as they leave that part of the Earth's surface which is moving fastest. Soyuz, merely by blasting off from Kourou, can get a 50% increase in performance with no technical modifications.

interest fact , wish I could get a 50% increase in peformance ,
then I could ignore all those spam mails offering me a 50% increase in performance click here ,

the space Truck docks on April the 3rd , it could go down in history as fender bender day
