a friend of mine was playing some downloaded music when he noticed that his monitor image on his laptop has gone upside down. cheesy what caused this and what is the fix?

Since its a notebook it would be a LCD. and video card drives most likely wont help.

I actually had this happen when I was in school once. a friend of mine was messing around and it just flipped on us. There is a control for rotate on your video card settings. If it is a nvidia graphics card its going to be in the nview settings. If its a intel card it will be in there little control center.

Is it a tablet notebook?
i have a Gateway TA6 tablet with which i can physically flip the screen around, then hit a button or go into the display settings and flip the display any way i want.
Have your friend check those options.

control panel:  display - settings tab - advanced button - rotation - 180 degrees

too easy...
