Libel is the written word.
«
on:
April 23, 2008, 06:16:50 AM »
I have just received the latest threat from ,the UK TV licensing corporation ,
regarding my lack of a licence to own a TV ,
they have in the past had a written statement signed statement from me , that I do not own a TV or watch TV programs, and had a previous visit from their "ENFORCEMENT" officers ,
but this is the third threatening letter I have received this year ,
I have now taken legal advice , based on English law on libel ,
BTW ,"Libel is the written word.
Libel is when the defamation is written down (including email, bulletin boards and websites),
In the UK, if someone thinks that what you wrote about them is either defamatory or damaging, the onus will be entirely on you to prove that your comments are true in court. In other words, if you make the claim, you've got to prove it! "
and I am now gearing up for a court case ,
in my view is in the wording ""
and that you may
, ? so this could get interesting ,
so what do you think of my chances ?
so guys just a warning about anything on the forum that you say may say about Roco (
(including email, bulletin boards and websites),
,
only kidding on that ,
no licence or TV.jpg

Run brother man, run. It sounds like the old tea tax to me.
In reality maybe it will take more like you that do not really watch TV to get it straightened out. And if you win more might follow. In fact I'd place an ad to see if others are in your same plight and you could get a class action suit going. Possibly share the lawyer and get a class action suit going. That would certainly get their attention. Never mess with retired fella's.
They have the time.

Roco, does any internet clips like youtube or any other forms of video over the internet count? Or is it strictly a physical "TV" ?

just for a TV, youtube is OK ,and I can watch BBC tv news on the internet (delayed ) , but not watch or record live Tv programs , even on my computer, it seems a bit of a grey area , the licence is for the TV,
just owning one and not watching it at my address is there base for needing to pay ,
this gave me a problem a week or so back ,I repaired a neighbours kid's playstation 2 ,in my workshop ,I had to borrow his TV to test it , and it was capable of receiving TV programs ,
if the ENFORCEMENT officers (lol the last pair couldn't have enforced a lamb
) had visited , guess that would have cost me $2000 USD and a criminal record ,all for a freebie repair
lol having phoned them as requested , during the conversation with Nicola (reading from a script )
I used the term "Bloody ridicules's" and was accused of being abusive
what got me was I had to pay for the phone call , just to listen to Nicola rattle on and on ,
I tried to raise a point of view ,to be told let me Finnish first ,I guess she was frightend of loosing her place on the page
and she didn't laugh when I said that
,
so I reckon no chance of a date there , unfortunatly as she sounded cute ,
so game on ,Mr.UK TV licensing
,
BTW, I have no objection to TV , as indeed I vist a friend with a bottle of wine and watch thier tv if there is something worth watching
.
for me in another 8 years I get TV for free in the UK , and I guess I won't have missed much anyway
and can catch up with all the endless repeats then
mind you if I was totaly blind I could get a 20% reduction on the licence cost , but nobody is making a braile TV,
so I will give that option a miss ,

Now that is funny and definitely shows bureaucratic bull for sure.

Today I had my visitation (cue spooky music ) from the TV licencing authority , just one very nervious guy , ( I think he drew the short straw
)
I was going to do my Monty Python raving loony act , (well it comes natural to me )
but I felt sorry for the guy , he was so polite and timid , I invited him in and said search away no problems , he took one look at my lounge ,declined a cup of tea ,
said it's OK we won't bother you again , and fled , bit of a anticlimax really ,
I now feel cheated out of a bit of sport ,

I agree, I was waiting for you to say they came in a d tossed the place.
If it were me, I would have been prepared , hollered come in to them , grabbed a raw chunk of liver ( bloody as hell ) and large turkey bone, I would set in the middle of the carpet in my shorts gnawing on the bone in a frantic manner, then switching to rip at the raw liver being sure to have plenty of the stuff on my face and arms. The burning sage and raw eggs in small bowl surrounding the rose padals and candles sitting in the corner may have them in and out in no time

I like to see the reactions. Actually I enjoy provoking thought, and I attempt to create an image in someone's mind when the read what I write.

Mudmanc, there are times when I worry about the state of your mind,
Only kidding ,but thanks for the suggestion , yeah I pictured it all to vividly , then decided I would rather buy a TV licence for a TV I don't have ,
All is well on the licence score for another 3 years , so they tell me,
glad it's all over , as I was worrying about the 42inch wide screen buried in the garden ,it's rained a lot lately
( kidding again )
BTW, it is impossible to buy a TV from a store in the UK without producing a valid TV licence , I tried to buy one for a christmas present for a friend , no deal , I had to give her a store gift voucher instead

WOW< that would truly suck. But you did find a way around it at least.
