I know its bad, but I've had enough of folks making themselves judge and jury. I mean if I wanna do what I wanna do it is my right too. And the way they are banning smoking in bars. This is gone too damned far. If I still smoked, I'd just let the kids scream and they would stay home alone then. There has got to be a place that is ones own. I just feel this is total crap. Where does freedom of choice end and begin.

When will folks quit trying to tell everyone else what to do with themselves. Like they have their own lives in such great order.

Would you give your kid a pack of cigarettes to smoke?

Well, if you smoke a cigarette in a car containing a child, there's no real difference. "One hour of second hand smoke in a car is the same as giving kids an entire pack of cigarettes," said Canada's Premier Dalton McGuinty.

When parents smoke in cars with their children around, "the risk to their health is serious because of the confined space and because children breathe more air relative to their body weight," Peter Goodhand, CEO of the Ontario branch of the Canadian Cancer Society, told Canwest News.

Luckily, in Ontario, this serious form of child abuse may be on its way out in a matter of months: Legislators have introduced The Smoke-Free Ontario Amendment Act, which would prohibit smoking in any vehicle that contains a passenger under 16. Violators of the act would be subject to a $250 fine.

The legislation has yet to be turned into law, but whether it does or not, we hope parents will think twice about lighting up around their kids.

You need to learn the phrase...
"Smoking is legal, so quit making a bunch of regulations that makes it look like smoking is illegal."

Ontario runs all sorts of commercials(rarely see them as I don't watch Canadian TV and I avoid watching My American channels while they are getting 'censored' by Canadian regulations.....But I digress$$$$$$......

The commercials never mention that smoking is 100% legal and Ontario either refuses to ban smoking or to point the blue finger at the Canadian government who ultimately control laws in Canada.  Twisted Evil

I don't smoke(used to enjoy some nice cigars many years ago). But I only might complain when someone stands in a doorway and the smoke just billows back in(get out into the rain and suffer).  cheesy  I remember years ago when they had smoking and non-smoking sections in restaurants. On a busy day, I would say smoking section and get seated immediately and actually make it back out, while the non-smoking section people(who came in at the same time) were still waiting to get seated.

And lets not forget the cigarette tax. Some government butt holes say the taxes help pay for the health care of the cigarette smokers that are sick because they smoke and you know what?? Smoking is still legal, to help pay for the people who are sick from smoking...And have you ever seen all the added ingredients in cigarettes??  Apparently they must occur naturally during the processing.  :haha:

And lets not forget that the ban on smoking in bars has caused people to get even more drunk, since they now have nothing to fill their time with, in between drinks. A hidden statistic.

And lets not forget that some places are looking to ban smoking in your own home......and trying to prevent bears from crapping in the woods.

tommie it's not ur own...it's ur kids...ur kids lungs and if they're trapped in the car with u...they don't have a choice...not fair to them...sometimes it takes a law to protect the innocent...

do u let people smoke in ur car if ur kids r in the car?? i'll bet u don't...in effect ur enforcing ur own law to protect ur kids...

I guess when they started banning smoking in bars it got me a bit riled. Its like smokers have no more rights. They are humans too. But its ok to drink and such in front of them. And yes I quit smoking mostly beccause of them. And never smoked in the house. But I feel its totally unfair for the gov't to step in on it. Its really not their business to do that IMO.

They are making too many rules that to me are common sense, and not gov't issues really.  tickedoff

lol Bro , you got it easy over there , we can't smoke in our cars kids or not , now won't be able to smoke in our Royal parks , or anywhere near childrens plagrounds ,I think within the next 2 years in the UK you will only be able to smoke  on your own property and only if children ain't present ,
we had a big row going on over tenants smoking in their landlords house ,that one is still simmering ,
kinda glad I gave it up 3 weeks ago today  icon_thumright, by just doing it one day at a time , and it's getting easier ,

I'm getting tired of the Government banning things that have going on for years. If non smokers don't like going into bars with smokers build a no smoking bar. Bet that place won't be much fun. Next thing they will ban is taking a crap in a public restroom because the beans you ate earlier are offending someones breathing space. All I got to say to all those self centered assholes is get a life and leave mine alone! tickedoff

What I see we are doing is conditioning the public for full and complete control over actions.   If you live w/ something long enough, it becomes the norm.  Generation after generation have dealt w/ this, being accustomed to having to go get a drivers licence is one, then register for the selective service, not to forget to pay your taxes, you must have insurance, you must wear a helmet in certain states, the seatbelt law, don't spank your kid, no streaking ( where'd that come from lol ), eat your vegetables,  the change in the fat type in the fast food fries, the curfew for the underage kids in some cities, no walking on the grass, ( there are many places ) , no spitting, no climbing, no dumping, stop, yield, give right of way, stay on the right side of the road ( silly one if you ask me ), no trespassing, no loitering, the frickin signs that tell us what we can and can't do have become the norm, you just do it because you are accustomed to doing it, it was there for as long as you can remember.

Just think about it, look around you and open your eye's this is nothing new at all, regulation was the founding father of this country, discrimination is a virtue, because we are all discriminated against by ourselves. It's simple people are just not content unless they feel they have control, thus the executive ladder, and for those that can't then there's that thing called pissin and moaning until plenty of lost soul followers cling to some thing they fell they can be a part of.

Those are perfect. thanks coknuck, in fact till I saw your post thats exactly where I was headed.  wink
 :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

There just has to be a place where you say BULLS#!t-thats far enough now dammit.

So when do we make a rule about frivilous rules being illegal? And vote a few back out.

No spitting on the sidewalk,etc...

And no smoking is "NOT" a sin.  :haha:

"Bitching about my smoking is aganst my civil rights" was my motto when I smoked, and its true. And it is within my religious rights to spank my child as and when I see fit. I think I saw that rule somewhere in here to. I personalloy am appaled at others interfering in that one. And it has never stopped me either.  azn  But I also cannot remember the last 'real' whippin I gave out either.  Very Happy

hey tommie agree with most things you posted here  , but spitting on the sidewalk , (pavement UK ) is a no -no for good health reasons , the UK finally won the battle against T.B. many years back ,it's  now it is back with a vengeance , 25% of immigrants have T.B.,.now fast becoming immune to medical treatment ,

Man I would hate paying like 75% tax on everything. That has to get old. I bet used stuff has is prime over there. Or have they found a way to tax old stuff to.  undecided
