Parents SHOULD be smart enough not to smoke in cars with their kids in there, but at the same time I do it. I must say I ALWAYS have the window open the air on while holding the butt by the window crack to make sure little to no smoke gets in the cab. I agree though tommie, considering we are all humans and should all be born free to make our own desicions the whole other people micromanaging our lives is getting REAL old REAL fast.

So when do we make a rule about frivilous rules being illegal? And vote a few back out.
well what about the law that said it was illegal for a man to sit in a still warm seat where a woman had just sat...it was a decency law..still on the books in some places
here in arizona it's against the law to have ur dog in the back of a pickup but not ur kids

IMHO life ain't like that , any desicion we make personaly affects others ,
"no man is born a Island" , is so true , you can disbieve that if you want ,a lot of folk do , hence the mess the world is in today, just my way of seing things , feel free . ect.

You do realize hot sparks can fly off the cigarette & cause a prairie fire.I hope your not one of those smokers that also throw the lit butt out the window.
I have to say people should not smoke with non-smokers in the car children or adults.I guess because some smokers are rude enough not to know this there have to be laws.
At first I thought controlling smoking in bars was a bit too much but after listening to the effects on bar employees both smokers & non-smokers I have to say it is really the best way.
Now some say that a non-smoker can just work for a non-smoking bar.Well would you have the same attitude if most of the bars were non-smoking & weren't hiring smokers that needed jobs?
Same thing if a high paying business all of the suddenly decided to go non-smoking & fired all the smokers.Would you say let them find a job where smoking is OK even if ti pays a lot less.I use that because I have heard it in reverse about non-smokers.
We all know the best waiter.waitress jobs are in the smoking allowed bars & restaurants unless smoking is banned in all of them. This forces a non-smoking employee to take a lower paying job or work in a smoke filled environment.
Heres a good solution for both:Have you ever been in a Las Vegas casino ?If so were you bothered by cigarette smoke?I bet you weren't unless you are very sensitive or the person next to you was blowing it right at you.Why is this because they use very good air filters.Something most bars & restaurants don't use.

And of course, now how is this going to be enforced. . But it is Canada where the police will be biased for a week and concentrate on one or two particular traffic crimes.
So Officer is speeding to a emergency, with lights and siren on. Maybe going to a hostage taking
and he see's a car with someone smoking with kids inside. Officer then hits the brakes and calls for backup to pull over the driver. . . . .Just a reality on the way policing is done these years, with an officer standing on the side of the road looking for easy crimes(Driver won't go to court to contest the ticket). And while two blocks away, drivers continue to blow through a stop sign or drivers use the paved shoulder for going around a curve in the road.
About 15 years ago near Richmond, British Columbia. An officer at the end of his shift is going back to the station(was awhile ago so details are general). See's a car, where the kid is not in a car seat(but still buckled in the back seat). Officer man pulls the lady over onto the side of the 'highway'. Then calls for a cab with a car seat(did you know that cab passengers are just classified as cargo?). While waiting for the cab. A 5 ton truck gets a little bit onto the highway shoulder. Hits the officers SUV into the ladies vehicle and I think the SUV flipped over. And luckily the lady and child were not killed or injured.
The moral of the story? There are major crimes out there that are ignored for simply the fact that major crimes cost 'money' to enforce and prosecute and jail time. . . .The police and government prefer to make money the easy way. Write a ticket that 90% of the people will not fight for fear of lost wages. Even though the not-guilty may win in court. But the officer still knows the evil doer lost about 150 bucks that day....Is it really about smoking. Or is it about how our rights and freedoms are legislated away and how the things that will really hurt you,,,,,,,,,,,,Some corporation pays the big bribes to keep it quiet.

This is the way I see it in the fairnest of all ways. Screw the laws. If you want to go into or work in a smoking bar then do so. If you want to go into or work in a non smoking bar then do so. But leave the damn laws for real crap.
If you can not find a job that suits you, then find a job that really does suit you. It is not the laws job to infringe upon others just to appease your wimpy little whiny ass. And my business is my business. I am sure if you looked into yoru own business it would keep you busy the rest of your life. If you then are truoy ready to have your own life disected and approved upon by me, then and only then may you complain about mine.
Back on topic, I think the government was not for this duty in the first place, just a bunch of bored lobbyist who have to come up with crap to simply annoy John Q Public.

They keep trying that tactic in British Columbia. . .Until someone either burns down the wooden telephone pole it's on(who uses wood??Kelowna BC) Or someone notices a hidden camera that transmits to the local police station(for security). But our highways cameras(that the public is allowed to access to) keeps growing. Mainly to make sure that if an intersection has a problem. The powers that be can do something quick..
.And you should see how far they can zoom in. Close enough to look into cars waiting at lights or the gas station on the corner and the license plate numbers. But they are not supposed to be used in that way,,,Officially...And the camera conveniently seems to go offline when the police have a roadblock in it's visual range as well.
And asstrays in cars should be used. I've seen smokers cars who have an unused ashtray, but they smoke in the car all the time.

Thats sad as hell ! Even when i ride, the butts go in my back pocket, they never goto the ground ! What pissed me is when someone is over here, were out there smoking, and they can clearly see there is nothing on the ground that doesn't belong there, no butts, no paper, no nothing , we police this place as if we care. My son included, if and when he see's something, even a tiny shard of who knows, that doesn't look like nature, he picks it up and puts it in the small butt can next to my shop. Well people will just flick there damn butts right on the ground looking in my face during a conversation, I walk directly over to it, pick it up, and put it where it goes, they never say a word either, it's frickin amazing.

As I mentioned before carelessly thrown out butts cause prairie fires in my area. Some very bad ones the last couple of years. It's so bad there are burn bans for country people where they are not allowed to burn trash because of possible sparks. So when I see a smoker does this in front of me I want to pull him/her over & kick their ass.
Unfortunately the law doesn't allow me to do that. What really steams me is I have seen a butt tossed out right in front of a cop & they just ignore it.
You even hear the fire department blame a lot of prairie fires on lightening.Funny how that could happen without a cloud in the sky.Or blame sparks from a train when the fire started miles form a train track. They just don't put the blame where most of it should go on careless smokers.
For me if I don't want you to smoke around me I will take your cigarette & stomp it.Previously I did leave it on the ground but due to mudmanc4 I will attempt to pick the butt up.If I can do it without getting kicked in the head.

I hate how our society tries to protect dogs and yet it doesnt give a S#!t about their kids
I seen mothers pay more attention to their dogs than their kids
it sickens me
Like in my local supermarket there is 2 Aile of Animal food and only one of baby food
I wonder what that says about our society
