Well I just stimulated in a big way. Got a 37 inch flat screed lcd. Stayed away from the plasma, just herd to many things bad about it. Got a vizio from wall-mart. IT was just a shade over 700 bucks. Went with my gut and paid for the extended warrinty. So I have 3 years worth of warrinty on it. Just thought for 50 bucks, may save having to replace a 700 dollar t.v. Im old, I believe in insurance, and naps, and driving slow, God I used to make fun of people like me.

Did read the reviews on that t.v. Lots of good things said about it. I went from a 19 inch to this monster. WOW!! Just refused to buy something like that from the net. Shipping it back would be cashy. Lady at wall mart said normally, if the t.v. goes bad, wall-mart just replaces it for ya. Its cheeper for them to do that then pay for shipping, and shipping insurance.

Question for you t.v. geeks. Sure hope someone catches this. If not I will start another thread. WIth my cable provider (mediacom). I gotta jump through hoops to get a high def box. Right now all I get is digital. Which if fine. Can't I just go buy my own box with paying them a monthy fee??

Sounds like a nice screen Ninja Smile

I don't think you can do the get your own box thing, they are coded w/ your account so you get the channels in your package.

You can get your own box from anywhere. But you will still have to call them and give them the access code so they can turn it on.

If you get a high def box, and hook it up but don't get the HD service your standard def will look much better because you hook it into the TV over component or HDMI. and you will get much higher resolution then coax, composit, or svideo.

Ive seen them on ebay for $50 bucks. They are cheap boxes. I got my directv HD box for $23 off ebay. I would have had to pay $99 for it from my provider.

Now if you do get a hd box off of ebay or a third party try to get the id numbers for the box before you buy it, i know with dishnetwork if you buy the box and it has a previous balance from the previous owner you will have to pay that balance before it can be activated on your account, i would check with your provider first though, ive seen numerous times where the customer would buy the reciever off ebay or a yard sale and was told it was good but there was a couple hundred dollar balance,
